Wanted Yamaha EF2400

Finally decided to go for a generator. I understand from previous threads that the Yamaha EF2400 will start and run a 13,500btu A/C.

Any one got one for sale(generator, not A.C)? PM with info or respond here.

Thanks,

Tom, I think you will like the Yamaha generator. I bought the Honda eu3000is. Both will run the A/C, but if you run your refrigerator on electric, it may overload your generator and trip the breaker. My 3000is runs my refrigerator, the A/C, but if I run a coffe maker or an electric skillet, I trip the main breaker on the gen. Below is a list of what each electrical appliance draws as far as amperage. You have approx. 24 amps to play with.

Air Conditioner (X number of A/C)12-16 Amps
Blender5-6 Amps
Coffee Maker5-8 Amps
Compact Disc Player1 Amp
Computer (Laptop)2-3 Amps
Converter1-8 Amps
Crock Pot1-2 Amps
Curling Iron<1 Amp
Drill2-6 Amps
Electric Blanket0.5-1.5 Amps
Electric Fan1 Amp
Electric Water Heater9-13 Amps
Electric Skillet6-12 Amps
Hair Dryer5-12 Amps
Iron5-10 Amps
Light (60 watt % 120V)<1 Amp
Microwave8-13 Amps
Microwave (Convection Oven)13 Amps
Refrigerator in AC mode5-8 Amps
Space Heater8-13 Amps
Television1.5-4 Amps
Toaster7-10 Amps
Vacuum (handheld)2-6 Amps
VCR1-2 Amps

Mark,

Thanks for the list. I am copying and printing it as a reference to keep in the trailer.

I went with the Yamaha because of price. In our price range I couldn't find an EU3000 for less than $1400 - used in very bad condition. The alternative of a Chinese knock-off was considered. Pro, good pricing. Cons, parts and support. For the price the Yamaha EF2400 will be on the edge of getting it done with a 3 year warranty and nation wide parts and service. No-brainer to me...

We considered only a solar charging system and forget the A/C. However, we will be heading for the South East next spring/summer and A/C is a must. The Yamaha will be used for battery charging, A/C and the Microwave - not all at the same time.

If the $ had been in place the EU3000 or the EF3000 would have been my choice.

You have a good genset!

Thanks again for the words and the list!
