Fabric and Quilts, Camping style
Split off from gifts for the RV'er, I thought it would be nice to have a thread for fabric related to trailers and camping, and then projects we do with it.
Here's a fabric collection called Roughing it, not available until January.
Roughing it
Spoonflower has a number of camping fabrics.
I found this one called Camping Food toss, also.
Fabric.com had a few including a cute Michael Miller print with trailers.

My plan is to make a warm lap quilt for when I'm sitting outside in the recliner enjoying morning coffee. I'm still looking for a fleece backing that I like and I may get some Thinsulate insulation as batting- Seattle Fabrics has it and it is very warm for the weight.

Here are a few of the pictures. One thing I noticed is you need to search both "trailer" and "camping" to get all the offerings a particular site has.

Try searching on words like cabin, fishing cabin, hunting cabin, along with the trailer stuff. We've found some really nice fabric that way.

That's the one from Vintage Trailer art. I like that, too. Here is the link to somewhere that has it: http://www.rvartgallery.com/shop/store/detail/512 Same store has some more fabrics, too.
Searching on cabin is a great idea. I also tried outdoors but wasn't very successful with that.

I love the one with the vintage trailers against the green background that Bobbie posted. I'm going to get a yard of it to make a couple of pillows. The Twin Peaks au naturel is a hoot. Along that line, how about some hunky guys? Pin Ups The Outdoorsy Type Tea - Discount Designer Fabric - Fabric.com

Following is a re-posting of my reply to the thread titled "Retro Fabrics". I've added a few new notes at the end.
"I love this discussion about fabric! I enjoy changing up the interior decor of my Scamp often. As a result I'm always on the lookout for fun fabrics at the right price. In San Francisco there are more than a few great fabric stores. Among them are Discount Fabrics, Britex, Mendels and my personal favorite, Fabrix. This tiny store is packed from floor to ceiling with fabrics from manufacturer's overruns. Most fabrics are 2, 3 or 4 dollars per yard! Their selection is pretty random but always fun. Zippers are 25 cents each and they have a trough full of buttons.
A great place to get Hawaiian themed fabrics is from Discount Fabric Warehouse in Hilo and Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. They have a great selection online and will mail up to 30 yards of cotton/blend fabric in a USPS flat rate box to the mainland!"
I found a terrific corduroy at Fabrix in SF. It has 3" stylized hiking boots in bright colors sprinkled all around. I made two pillows for my Scamp and a pennant swag made of old jeans and hiking boot appliques. Unfortunately I do not have photos of these to show.

My previous posting shows curtain panels I made for my Scamp. I chose to keep the original cream-colored curtains because they let in light and provide privacy. I made 9" wide panels to give the interior some flair. They sew up quickly and don't cost much because they use little fabric.
I find a great way to spruce up the trailer interior is to choose a theme color or season or culture or period of history and go with it! Some ideas are fall foliage, Hawaii, Mexico, Wild West, etc. For the interior I make 16" square pillows, curtain panels, pennant swag for front window. In addition I might have coordinating kitchen mitts/pads, kitchen towels, small area rug, throws, stuffed animals and comforter. For the exterior I make a spare tire cover from a matching picnic tablecloth. On the picnic table I place a "flower" arrangement with coordinating figurines or salt and pepper shakers. (Sorry, no photos at this time)
I know this sounds "over the top" (and it is) but we have so much fun camping in our themed Scamp and I get so much joy decorating our tiny trailer.

Carol - the pincushion trailer is adorable!
Gilda - I'm all for "going over the top", that's what you call "Glamping"! If you're going to spend time in a tiny little space you might as well enjoy it to the max!

I have redone the curtains on my trailer a couple of times. Last year when I redid them I decided to use a thermal curtain lining. It comes in different weights and on the window side it has little bit of a plastic coating that stops the curtains from absorbing moisture - preventing mildew issues. The added weight really helped to keep their shape. Found they worked well at blocking out light in the summer and they seemed to cut down on the draft from the windows while camping last winter in cool weather as well.
