Cool Geocaching everywhere

We do a lot of traveling to find 'geocaches'. We've currently geocached in 48 of the 50 US states, and in 9 of the CDN provinces. Should be a few other 'cachers' out there. Can we share our 'camping and caching' adventures ?

I'm surprised nobody's responded to this. The history of geocaching is interesting. My history with geocaching dates back to sometime in March 2001. We looked for 2 or 3 of Dave Ulmer's caches. Remember Dave Ulmer started it all on May 3, 2000. We finally found the "unoriginal cache" on April 1, 2001. Then proceeded to look for the real original no. 1 cache. I found ruminants of the bucket and there was a can of beans laying on the ground. Like a fool I left the now famous can of beans.

Don't do a lot of geocaching now, but still attend one of the best geocaching events around, The Pine Mountain Star Party. This was the 11 year. Year no. 12 might be the last, if not it'll be close.

The activity has changed a lot in the 13 years of existence. I think I kind of miss the early days.

We have done it occasionally but have been disappointed when sites are disturbed or ruined by inconsiderate searchers. We'll keep trying, though!

We geocache as well. We often create a list of sites in the more remote locations. We like the fact that they often take you to interesting places you might not have found. We have never found a disrupted site, but I would say 1/3rd of the time we do not find the cache.

Basically every cache is a little hike with an interesting end.

Nice to hear there are other geocachers travelling with 'eggs'. We're about to post our 3000th find this week. It'll likely be in southern Ontario, while caching through 'cottage country'. Our recently acquired '73 boler will be our 'cache-pad' as soon as it is ready.

Wow ! We certainly applaud your April 1, 2001 discovery of the original geocache. Must have been an awesome event ! Perhaps we'll get back out that way again, and make an attempt, as well. - Happy cachin'; and 'eggin'.

One of the neatest aspects of geocaching is that you can go to the most far out place and there is a cache. As well there's something youthful about searching for treasure. We always carry trinkets for the found cache.

This is where it all started.

The un-original is close by.

I need to correct my self after looking at the logs. I found it 4-28-2001

My husband would spot them when hiking in the park above us years ago. One time he found one someone had tore apart, most likely kids. In it was a local telephone number. We called and a woman showed up to put it back and thanked us for being kind enough to pick it up and call.
