Getting ready

We are washing
We are polishing
We are fixing
and
We are biting at the bit
Today added the new awning track moved the awning to it and had a coffee then dreamed of Manitoulin camping.
We are told camping local private camps will open first; it should be a rush to get a site
Added new vent cover for toilet and had a coffee and dreamed of McGregor park.
Cleaned the roof and took a break for some lunch
Scrapped the silicone off of the old awning track so it could go back on to hold the new awning travel cover had a drink of juice and dreamed of fishing on Manitoulin
Looked lovingly at the fly fishing gear and then rested with a glass of ice water
Next will go out and wash the windows again,
What will you get ready

Often, by this time if the year, we'd be camping somewhere in Canada. Probably the Yukon, visiting with friends.
With these extraordinary times, we're still at home, enjoying the adventures of the few who are out there.camping.
Best of luck, and have fun, when you get to enjoy your favorite places.
For us, Canada, is now a next year trip. That's ok. We totally respect the travel restrictions. We want everyone to stay well!

We will be glad when all can get out and travel. I live in a camping area so will be able to enjoy when they open up even local. Will only go to the campgrounds with space between sites for safety. Check out the Bruce peninsula some time it has 44 types of orchids on north half and 52 of the 57 types that grow in north america grow on the peninsula. I is also a bird migratory path.

End of may Calypso very very rare (flower pot island), Rams head (Singing sands trail area), slipper types white, showy, yellow, dwarf yellow and many other early types come out. We have some mid summer types like Coral roots striped and spotted, rattle snake plantain types 5 in pine needle beds, sandy areas ladies tresses, hooded, up to June common though, Alaskan rain orchid (august) rare hard to find, white fringed (long swamp) bog candles white and green swamp types are hard to find and include Poligula single purple flower, Cape Croaker reserve has stripped Coral root.

It may not be the Yukon or Florida but we like it.

Lock down but still have some bookings

They locked us down again and cancelled all campgrounds booked during this time for safety due to the pandemic.
We still have 3 trips booked in the future though that maybe beyond the lock down. Will just have to play safe till this is over.

We lost him

[QUOTE=David Tilston;810825]That sucks! Thanks COVID.

first great pictures!

Read the post "worst vacation ever" and it brought back memories lol

Was camping with my Uncle and little brother and we lost him! That's right we lost him.
We each had a survival kit and compass we were not to go out without he left his at the campsite.
After sometime looking for him we decided we needed help

The nearest place was the James Bay power project lol.
Went to the rangers post to report he was missing only to find out that they had a ranger missing for two weeks and had planes out looking for him.
We did not know what to do next no cell phone service up there even if we had one.
Began to talk about who would drive out to nearest phone to call mom to let her know as it was getting dark and we found him. He was only 15 ft from the corduroy road into our camping area.

In the end we had a lot of fun and memories are priceless.

P.S. they found the ranger the next day he was a little worse for ware but ok and we found to new orchids for our found list that trip. Went from worst to best trip ever lol

They should teach all rangers how to get home? Do not know how a ranger can get lost? First thing we do at a remote location like this one is get the map out and chart a direct course to the nearest power corridor write the pole number and compass reading on all maps in our survival kits. At that point if you loose the map and remember the tower number sun and time of day will get you back; miss return target go back to corridor find the tower and try again lol. Brother was young so he had an excuse.

I envy all the members here who are getting ready to go, somewhere. I’m a year from retirement and daydream about where I may be a year from now. Ordering my Scamp soon, but will still be searching around for a lucky used find.

Happy fishing soon!

We got out camping

Well we got out last week as things opened up;
Had our seasonal water leak lol seems to be normal. The old copper pluming was replaced with a 3/8" push lock clear plastic system about 12 years ago maybe a bit longer anyway the joint at the hot side of the shower came free.
Lucky we carry a few basic tools fixed it cleanup all the water and made sure all the fittings were good to go again. Two others were ready to let go.

Had a good time hope they don't lock down again looking forward to our next trip. Our numbers are up here due to tourists from prior hot spots.

We are both fully vaccinated but hunkered down for safety.
