It is the time of year when I launch myself into designing a new set of very tiny little buildings. I design them in a 3D CAD program and that is what these images are taken from. Now this little building in the smallest size I offer it is only .84" high. Yes, that is right less than 1 inch tall!!

So when things get that small no way do you want to have to handle a ton of tiny pieces so the goal is to make it fold up from as few pieces of cardstock as possible. I create puzzles in thousandths of a inch increments

Designing this little castle has been keeping me indoors and away from my Campster project. This is the first full prototype I have cut. But of course now I will be doing lots of minor revisions to this and that on it. Hopefully I can cut a final prototype that totally satisfies my expectation this week. But after that I have to launch into writing the assembly instructions and start cutting the kits.

I'd love to see your rendition of a FG camper. I've dreamed of making my Scamp into a "model". I'm just waiting on the right "equipment" because of the "curves"!

No sure what right equipment one needs as these things such as making a FG model can be done with minimal equipment using techniques that have been around for a very long time. You don't need 3D printers to do it. You can build your own equipment for vacuum forming at home.

I will not be making scale models of FG campers. My love is historic buildings.

The gold castle is made with cardstock that has a mica coating on the surface of the paper.

We getting off topic of what I do in the way of little buildings. So I will finish up this thread diversion that wants to go into making model trailers with how a FG fiberglass trailer can be done by most anyone with minimal setup. First you measure the trailer, then carve blocks of balsa wood to those measurements to create the shape of the trailer. You include recessed areas (not holes) for the window and door openings in the balsa wood model. You will later on trim out those recessed areas in the plastic that you form against your molds.

Those two halves of the trailer shape are used to vacuum form thermo plastics over them. Here is a video showing how you can do that right at your own home very inexpensively. There are a great many youtube videos on this type of model making so there is not need for me to try to explain it any further and no need for you to divert my hobby thread of what I make into a thread about making models of trailers.

Thermo plastics for vacuum forming can be sourced from hobby supply shops as can things such as wheels and various shapes of plastic and metal extrusions that can create the framing underneath the trailer shell. You can even create thermo formed shapes for the molded cabinets that are found in trailers such as the Casitas, Scamps, etc and for things like refrigerators and kitchen sinks.
