Mississippi river bridge at Lansing IOWA

LANSING, Iowa (WXOW) - The latest information from the Iowa DOT on Tuesday said it could be up to two months to finish the work that stabilizes the Black Hawk Bridge.
The bridge has been closed since Sunday (Feb 25 2024) after there was an "unexpected movement" in the bridge that crosses the Mississippi River between Iowa and Wisconsin.
An inspection done on Monday determined that the two existing bridge piers nearest the work zone were the ones that moved.

Work is now beginning to stabilize the 93-year-old piers so the bridge can re-open. The Iowa DOT said the work could take up to two months.
They once again stressed that the bridge won't reopen until it is deemed safe.
Until the bridge is repaired or other crossing options put into place, drivers have to go to either La Crosse or Prairie du Chien to cross the river.

Thanks for the information. We hadnít heard about the bridge closing, and may be heading down that way in March.
