Hi Everyone,
Rhie and I are planning on a kayak trip Saturday morning. (Actually, we have a small canoe.) I have been canoeing and kayaking the Oregon rivers for over 10 years. I spoke with Dave at the fish and wildlife service (541-347-1470) today and got some good information from him. Then I went to the tide tables on-line. We will put in at the Rocky Point boat launch around river mile 5.5 and paddle down river (with the outgoing tide) to the Port of Bandon boat ramp (in the city) which is around river mile 1. We plan on putting in at around 7:00 am as high tide is at 5:25 a.m. Low tide is at 11:17 am Saturday so we will be done way before the tide starts coming in. I estimate the trip will take about 2.5 hours. It is advisable to kayak the river in the morning as the coastal winds usually blow through in the afternoon. Please let me know if you would like to float with us. The more the boats..the more fun!
Thanks,
Robin and Rhie
