Good grief - after reading the list for the DO workshop/feast, our mouths will be watering for 10 days! We'll add our Thank You's, Lori & Michael, for all your efforts in organizing this event, as well as for you generosity in lending DO's to some of us so we can take part. Um-ummmmmmmm, whatta day that will be! L 'n D

Mike & Lori,
We are reviewing our shopping and packing lists and need to know .... do we need to plan on fixing food for the "Potluck" at site A-11 Saturday 5:45 OR is our food from the Dutch oven workshop going to be consumed at the Potluck?

Thanks! Tom & Martha Jo Trostel

Tom,

Good question.

The first year we did the Workshop, we took all the DO's over to the Potluck right away and many of the participants didn't get to taste what they had made, let alone try any of the other dishes. Last year, we decided to have a "tasting party" when everything got done, and then, those that wanted to took their DO's to the potluck. That seemed to work out well.

Hi, Marney & Lyn,

Welcome to the Dutch Oven workshop. Do you both want to cook a dish, since you have two DO's? If so, I'll send you two recipes and instructions.

Lori,
Thanks for getting back to me. We'd each like to cook, so two recipes would be great. We're looking forward to it.
And, thanks for doing this!

Hi Lori,

I haven't heard anything and was wondering when you might have the recipes/shopping lists ready? I'm listed to make lazagna and will be doing my grocery shopping early next week (16th) as we hit the road at dawn on the 18th.

Not a big rush, just wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Thanks much!

Lori,
We didn't receive our recipe either. We are beginning the "Hell Bent for Leather" tour (Texas to Oregon in 4 days) in 14 hours. Please email us again. Thanks

Coos Bay has a super wal mart and a safeway so if you forget something its easy to just stop and grab it on the way. And it looks like there is a Ray's Food store in Bandon which is a nice sized store for picking up those last minute forgotten items.

Dutch Oven Cooks,

I have sent out recipes and ingredient lists to all who have signed up to cook at the Dutch Oven workshop. Apparently, some of you didn't get my emails. If you haven't gotten something from me, or if you have questions. please let me know.

Tom, I will resend your recipe, tonight.

Lori,

Thank you SO MUCH for leading the Dutch oven workshop... it was very informative and FUN! Even my husband said it was the highlight of the weekend for him, and he only attended because I signed him up. The food was absolutely wonderful. I'm just sorry that we were so rushed to move over to the potluck, and we didn't get to give you a proper group "thank you" and help with the cleanup.

You'll be happy to know that I made a batch of DO cornbread on my own the next night for dinner. It turned out perfect! I can't wait to try more of the recipes on my own soon! I think the Tamale pie will be next on my list.

Thanks Lori for putting on a fine workshop.
Lots of good information dispensed. Lots of good food cooked. Lots of good conversation and laughs.
I came away with several good pieces of information that will help with some of my DO creations.
The food was ALL fantastic.

And most of all Thanks to Mike and Lori for putting up with me.
