We see that Friday night, July 18, brings us a full moon! So remember your scopes and binocs, and hope for a clear night. With no light pollution from any cities nearby, it should be a great dark viewing of that Ol' Man in the Moon.

See you on the beach when the sun goes down. Here's a pix of Face Rock under a full moon, borrowed from Bandon's CoC website.

Somehow I've heard this before! Only it was something about the space station passing overhead. Here a bunch of adults spent time with crinks in their necks and nary a space station in sight! Okay, I'll give it another try... cheap binoculars and all!

Actually, the ISS (International Space Station) is passing overhead quite a number of times during the Oregon Gathering weekend It is passing north and south of us on Friday night, and then there is a 5+ minute dead overhead pass on Saturday night. Let's hope for clear skies!

ISS Schedule for Bandon, OR:

18 Jul, -1.4, magnitude, 9:51:49pm SSW --> 9:56:43pm ENE
18 Jul, -0.7 magnitude, 11:26:39pm W --> 11:32:01pm NE

19 Jul, -2.5 magnitude, 10:14:54pm SW --> 10:20:37pm ENE
19 Jul, 0.5 magnitude, 11:50:58pm WNW--> 11:55:26pm NE

I'll bring sky maps to help with spotting!

(ISS is passing over Bandon 9 times but I've only listed the evening fly-bys. If you want to see the entire list, including earlier in the week, go to www.heavensabove.com - be sure to set your location & timezone before accessing the ISS schedule)
