Does anyone want to get together to do some kayaking? I know several sites to launch from. I'll be in site A-64.

Raul, when (day and times) are you planning the Kayaking trip? (I want to put it on the calendar.) Last year it happened on Sunday morning.

Nancy,
Sunday morning sounds good, I'm trying to get information from Adventure Kayak in Bandon as to the best time to launch based on the tides. It looks like there are five people interested so far. Will there be a list of all the clases to be offered?

Hi Raul,

If you've never paddled in the area, early morning is best - gets very windy in the afternoon. Sometimes the tide and wind are not ideal for paddling. The South Slough Estuary is a very interesting place to paddle - not too far from Bullards.

Hi Raul,

I see by the Oregon Gathering Info e-mail that the kayaking is scheduled for noon on Sunday. Do we have to own kayaks or is there an easy place to rent from? Hubby and I may be interested.

You have to provide your own kayak. There is a rental place in Bandon. If you Google "Kayak Rental Bandon Oregon" you will find it.

See if you can rent one of those, too.

Would a sit on top or sit in kayak be better suited for what you plan on doing?

Kathie,
I've been to the South Slough Estuary but have not done any paddling there. Nice place, lots of sloughs. Have you done any kayaking there? If so, maybe you could sugest a spot.

Raul,

We have never paddled there - always wanted to - Canoe and Kayak magazine did a feature on it a few years back - I guess it's best to have a good map and tide table - easy to get 'stuck' in the mudflats at low tide. Thought it might not be as windy there.....

Gary:

A sit-in kayak would be better.
