Chuck, would you roast some for me, too? That's the way I like them.

Greetings! We will have an extra table to bring, along with firewood, along with marshmallow forks. And, yes, is there any other way to roast a marshmallow except black and crispy ?! Ed and Colleen newbies in space A44

Are you importing wood from outside Oregon, or are you buying it local?

Frederick,
We are bringing exotic imported wood from Washington. It is noted for it's aroma and the ambience it evokes. But don't tell anyone, it comes from our private wood pile (well seasoned). Please let us know if this is a problem?

I have heard that Oregon Parks might not let you bring in "Outside" wood due to pest control issues.

Frederick,
I appreciate your earlier question. Not hearing a response from you until now I became curious, so just a bit ago I looked up transporting firewood into Oregon and came up with a very helpful website. You are right, there are new rules to consider. The 2011 law I read, states it is ok to transport firewood from Idaho or Washington into Oregon. I will verify with the park ranger by phone before we load it into our truck, though. As you suggested, the concern is transporting pests found in trees in quarantined areas outside the Pacific Northwest. It was interesting enough, I read two other sites and was surprised at how serious the problem is. There are some people moving from the east coast who will pack up their firewood along with their belongings. I guess, they must consider the firewood too valuable to leave behind. I am sure they are quite surprised at how abundant it is out west and relatively inexpensive. We will abide by whatever the ranger tells us to do. Camping just isn't as simple as it used to be.
Casita Ed
