1955 Tini Home Rebuild

Good Morning
I am new to this forum.
I am rebuilding a 1955 Tini Home Canned Ham
Since camper was gutted on inside and don’t know what it is suppose to look like, guess it is a rebuild.
With that being said and demo done, I’m looking for any thoughts or suggestions.
My though is to use fiberglass for the sides since I can do that in one piece.
Not sure about using it on the roof.
Thoughts suggestions?
Joe

1955 Tini Home Rebuild

Hi, Joe! It’s not obvious from the forum title, but all the trailers here are molded fiberglass, meaning they are built by spraying fiberglass into trailer-size molds (think egg-style trailers like Scamp and Casita). That’s different than framed trailers covered with a skin of aluminum or composite sheets.

Off-hand I’d say aluminum is lighter and stands up better to intense sun, but it’s more easily dented by rocks and hail. Fiberglass deteriorates in UV, so it’s important to store it under cover and/or keep a good coat of wax on it. Smooth fiberglass will give it a more modern look, while aluminum preserves the vintage style. No idea about cost. Both share the same issues with proper sealing and maintenance of the seams. That’s one reason many of us have gone the molded route.

You might get more and better advice on the vintage trailer site tincantourists.com. Best wishes with your project!
