1977 13' Scamp - price?

Hi, I am Jill, I live in northern California.

I recently inherited a 13' scamp that was purchased new in 1977. It was last used in 1984 and has been in storage since. I want to sell it, but have no idea how much to ask considering the following:

The interior definitely needs some TLC. All but one of the cushions are in good shape but need to be reupholstered. One cushion has some damage due to small critters and will have to be completely replaced.

The carpet is clean and okay, but shows its age.

There are some shelves missing for the beds, and the table is missing.

The refrigerator door needs to be re-attached with new hinges.

I replaced both tires, but it needs a new spare. I have the rim.

The shell is in good shape, I would say above average considering its age.

The propane tank is there and the hitch looks to be fine. I have not had the electronics tested.

Any thoughts on a reasonable sales price would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, Jill

Is the front bunk in place with all hardware? Is it a fridge or icebox? Does the door fit tight all around? Was it stored inside or outside, covered or uncovered?

13" Scamp - answers I hope

No, the front bunk is not in place but there is hardware.

Not sure of the difference between a fridge and icebox. I would say fridge as there are shelves.

Stored inside, but not in a climate controlled situation. No sun or rain, but a lot of squirrels found a good home.

Thanks, Jill

If it’s a mechanical fridge, there will be two vents on the outside, and the lower one opens to reveal the controls for the fridge. A fridge cools using propane or electricity. An icebox is just an insulated box that cools by means of ice. Back then, icebox was standard and fridge was an option. Either way, given its age, it may or may not be possible to find parts to fix the door.

Pictures would really help assess value. At a guess, based on what you’ve said, maybe $3-4K assuming the shell, windows, and door are in good shape, interior fiberglass components are present, and interior wall lining is intact. Location is a plus, but the season is not. If you held it until spring, and perhaps cleaned it up and fixed a few simple things, you could probably get a better price.

If you decide to do anything to it, use caution. The more personal you make it, the more difficult it will be to sell. ( you would have to find someone with the same taste as you) I've found that most people that purchase the little "eggs" have intentions of customizing it to their liking. Put a number on it that you are happy with, try to stick to that number or more. The age is not a real big factor on fiberglass rvs, Tires, axle, frame, and functioning appliances are bigger factors, if something doesn't work, find out what a replacement (not upgrade) would cost, and adjust the price. Now is a good time to sell to someone that wants a winter project ready for spring.

I would ask for 5K see what happens. I've seen them in decent shape go for 9500. (1977)

Good luck

Prices here are Inflated

Look for comparable on FB market place, eBay, Craigslist
. There is a filter on all three to see only sold items. Any forum will have inflated prices IMO.
