Smile 1982 Vanguard Transvan

Hi all. Happy to be here. Very difficult to find like-minded fiberglass RV owners.
I'm hoping there are a few of you that have the same unit I just purchased. Looking forward to tips, reviews and discussions.

Since this forum is specifically focused on all-molded trailers, you will find very few van owners here.

I’m not sure if it’s considered a Class B+ or a small Class C, but you might find some company on the Class B forum. I’m also a member there, and I think for most issues you’ll find better help, too.

It has been my understanding that this is a forum for all molded fiberglass rv's. I've seen other fiberglass motorhomes here before although not the transvan. Some may have them. If you need it this is probably one of the best place to get information care and repair of fiberglass. Which length do you have.
The transvan is my favorite motorhome. I owned one for a while in the early 90's, but made the mistake of selling it when someone offered me twice what I played. I had the 19'. Enjoy your find.

I believe mine is also 19’
I love the design of this unit, although there’s not as much room as a comparable class C, it does have everything I require.
As you have owned one in the past, what would you recommend for a good roof and body sealant?

You would do better getting advice some of those here more experience on carrying for their fiberglass units or just do a search here. There have been many posts. I am not a good one to ask. I have done the minimum using liquid waxes most of the time, but washing often to keep the grime from penetrating deeply. This winter I will need to do a complete cleanup and rewax. From what has been posted here in the past there are a couple kits for renewing fiberglass boats and rv on Amazon. Hopefully someone with more experience will respond.

A number of folks here have used Zep floor wax successfully. If That is wahat you mean about sealant. If talking about sealing a vent or window, butyl tape is recommended... NO silicone.

Zep is an excellent floor wax with high acrylic content. I worked in an agency with more than 2500 housing units. We used it for years applying 3 coats after a thorough cleaning. The pre cleaning is as important as the application. Dust between coats. At some point it will yellow and need to be stripped. In my opinion zep has the best stripper on the market.
