1983 Burro. Outer shell coating

In the process of refurbishing 1983 Burro.
I was able to get good advice from this forum on acquiring the outer seal
/Trim-Lok. I think thatís a good place to start. My question: Is there a special coating available to apply to the outside of the Fiberglass? And what type prep work is needed before the application of paint or fiberglass coating

On our 84 Uhaul, (same as a Burro) I cleaned the outside with Barkeepers Friend, the liquid version. Then waxed it with a product made for fiberglass boats. Lots of options though, Maguires has some good products for cleaning and polishing fiberglass gelcoat. I wouldn't paint unless there was damage that had to be repaired.

I suspect the outside of my fiberglass unit has oxidized. It's rough and looks hazy. Dust and road debris stick to the rough surface, making it difficult to clean. I'll be using a power polisher and whatever wax I find in the garage. There are products specially made for this purpose but, in my experience, its the mechanical action of the polisher that removes the oxide.
When the oxide has been removed the surface of the fiberglass will be smooth and the polisher speeds up as an indication the rough surface has be removed. Sanding/repainting is damage repair. Power polishing is maintenance to keep the fiberglass in good condition.
