1987 C11.5 Big Foot camper

We just bought a 1987 C11.5 Big Foot camper and now we need to find a 3/4 ton or 1 ton truck with an 8 foot box to put it on. Not an easy thing to find these days. We live in B.C. if anyone hears of a used truck with these specs. we'd love to know of it. A question I have is what is the purpose of the door under the oven that leads to the outside of the camper? It is not fitting tightly so I can imagine bugs could get in and wouldn't take much effort for bigger critters to push it open either. Is there a reason why we shouldn't just take the door off and seal up the opening with a piece of plywood? Thanks to anyone who has an answer to this. Donna Conway

A 3/4 ton truck is not enough for an 11.5 ft camper. We had one on a 3/4 ton with overload springs. Not enough. We bough a Dodge 3500 dually to properly handle the 4000+ pound camper.

C11.5 model Big foot, is it a slip into box camper? Seems like a lot of truck.

If you check truck payloads, a 1 ton sounds appropriate. Realize all the campers weight is on the truck. And you need payload for passengers, pets and gear. In the end, rather than struggle with it, just go one ton. Older one ton pickups did not have the payload of trucks today.

we checked out an F350 dually yesterday but my husband felt it was just too big since we would be using it for other things besides camping. The model of our big foot is supposed to be the lightest in the 2500 series.
