1998 Sun Trek Vista Trailer

Hi there:

Just recently purchased a used 1998 Sun Trek Vista trailer, 18'. I found this forum when I was looking for information on the trailer. It was difficult to find info on the company and the model, and the info we found was still quite limited. But overall we're extremely happy with the purchase and are excited to start using it. We have some changes and upgrades planned as well which will be fun, but first will be a thorough cleaning!

We are first time RV Trailer owners and unfortunately the trailer did not come with the manual. I have written a gentleman on this forum who has the same model but slightly longer trailer, hopefully he can help.

Are there any books people can suggest to help out?

Very Nice! Congrat's!

Bet your excited! Looks like it's in good shape.
As far as books to read, well that depends on what type of information your looking for? I think most things, fiberglass could be answered here. Of course you will have different issues than say a Casita owner, but molded fiberglass is molded. Fridge, heater, airconditioners ect are gonna be simular and there will be people who can at least steer you towards finding what you need.

Best of luck, can you tell me how long and what the Sun Trek weights? So much room compared to most. Thanks for the pic's!

I'm looking for something like a general guidebook that you can keep in a trailer drawer, something you can refer to when things go wrong or when you want to be proactive and learn. Maintenance and road checklists.

I'd read the manual thoroughly if there was one.

Or I guess an app? Everything seems to be going that way.

The trailer is 18' total length. GVWR is 4,000. Weight is about 2,800 lbs. as is.

Hi A.J. welcome to FiberglassRV. I'm late to the party... I was out camping Your Sun Trek looks like a VERY nice trailer, I'm sure you'll create lots of memories using it.

A manual... hummm. Other than the body, frame and interior cabinetry all items are manufactured by some other manufacturer. Items like the axle, windows, appliances, etc. If you know the names and model numbers you may find what you need in the Document Center. If you're looking for general information, Scamp Trailers has a great resource, including videos... remember, so many items are "generic."

Once again,

Wow thanks for the tips. That document centre is great! I found most manuals for our appliances and components!

Awesome forum.

We will have a big trip from Toronto to PEI planned already. Having those docs makes us a little more confident. Thanks again.

Vista Trailer

I have an additional question. I am looking at buying a trailer and have found an 18 foot Vista by Sun Teck for sale at a very reasonable price. Before I decide to buy I would like to know if the company who makes this trailer even exist, other than this site I can find no information on this model. And if company has gone out of business where does someone get parts for this model.

Frank, Welcome! To my knowledge this manufacture isn't in business! If they are, it would be a mystery!

More than likely all parts are universal to other rv's. So parts can either be found thru rv manufactures, manufactures directly, lot's of rv parts houses.... And some parts can be found at your local hardware store and many big box stores. There are tons of resources for parts around. Of course there can always be a odd part that is no longer made, but usually someone has figured out a replacement part by now if so...........

Hi Frank

The manufacturer of the Vista, SunTrek, went out of business after only a few years. To my knowledge they last produced a trailer in 2003.

I also have no manual or documentation for my Vista trailer, but the tips found in this thread are useful. You can find documents on your appliances online and much of the other stuff is mostly common sense.

Good luck.

I found some info on the Vista on Yahoo groups that may help.

Apparently The Vista was built when a group of former employees of Award Trailers formed a company at the time of the first collapse of the Award company. They did not build many trailers.

Thanks for comments. I am a little lukewarm on the trailer right about now, but still thinking about it.

Ahhhh Frank, when it comes to all molded trailers... you snooze, you lose. Cool shape... but, I'm a visual person.

Frank, if you are looking at the 1998 Vista for sale in London, it looks like a great buy.

For those here who didn't have mandatory french in school this translates to English as:

"I am also looking for information. Recently bought an identical model."

Or at least thats what my old grey cells seen to think.
