76 Ventura owner in Edmonton

Hi I'm Dave and my wife is Nancy from Edmonton, Alberta. We acquired an old 76 Ventura trailer last year. We have been fixing it up such as painting the interior and fixing the wiring and such. I fly RC airplanes so we take this out to fun flys around the province. I tell people "its so small you have to go outside to change your mind". We got it for a steal $800 so we can do alot of fixing!

I just bought our Ventura last month for $3000, it appeared to be in good condition until I got it home. The seller did a great job of covering up the mountain of issues this trailer had. There were so many hidden problems that I have spent the past 3 weekends having to do a complete gut and refiberglass the countless holes and cracks. I have already spent well over $500 on supplies and haven't even started the rebuild yet, I estimate I will need to put in another 1-2k to get it road worthy and that is without adding any appliances. What a money pitt I bought, I really wish I could turn back time.

sorry to hear that. Mine has some cracking as well and had 2 cracks right through above the rear window( I patched from the outside). I think the snow load on the roof stresses the glass. I also had leaking from the rivits on the awning rail. I coated the entire roof area and the top 8" or so with White Knight Flex Coat and it sealed very well. I am thinking about doing the entire top half with it if I can get it to go one smoother with a closed cell roller. It sure did cover the spider cracks. I think I will strip the interior this fall and repair the fiberglass from inside and may add some carbon fiber tow around the windows. It will do for what we want it for. Tonight is wiring night, time to put a 7 pole connector on it so I can get the brakes working again.

This looks interesting, I wonder if it would be good for the front lower panel when rocks frequently pitt and people often coat with bed liner. Maybe I should consider rolling this on the inside of my shell before I put the walls back up too.

oh boy, I haven't even got to the wiring yet and I hope my breaks are connected. Did you have a problem with yours or were they just disconnect?

Your trailer looks fantastic compared to mine, I will share some photos with you when I get some. The walls were easy to take down, the floor however was another story. I had about 4 inches of water sitting behind the kitchen area and the entire floor was rotted out. The subfloor was set into the resin so it was very difficult to pull up without making more holes in the fiberglass.

Pulled the brake drums last night and found the wires broken off the magnets. Could not find the same magnets online so I went to City Spring here in Edmonton. They didn't have the brake magnets but did have the whole darn brake assemblies for $38 each. Size is 10"x2 1/4". Now that's the way to fix 35 year old brakes!
