Most hospitals have local clergy that visit patients. Most clergy have a house of worship that's got open parking most of the week. Doesn't hurt to ask. Raz

There really is a lot of space available in FL this month. Many people have headed home for Easter (early this year). You should be able to find a place to stay. As was suggested we have space in our Escapee Park but it's a fair ride from St. Pete.

I'm personally not familiar with St. Pete Campgrounds but I'm sure St. Pete has a visitor's center. Go there and ask them to suggest a couple of local campgrounds.

There's a Moose Lodge about 5 blocks from me. They also allow overnight RVs. If they Elks can't help, perhaps the Moose can if there's a lodge close by to your needs.

If you haven't found a solution yet, take a look at towns a little north of you - Hudson for example.

There were always empty spaces at some of the older campgrounds in that area and the rates were a whole lot less than St. Petes.

Hudson is about an hours drive north of St. Petes so it's a whole lot closer than something inland where you have to come through Tampa.

Just an FYI, next weekend is race weekend in Sebring Florida and this is also March break for Ontario Canada schools. You may have to try further south or north of St Pete. or just try a very cheap motel and sleep in your RV, just use the shower/toilet in the motel.

Let us know sometime what you located. And our sympathies to all your family members in this difficult time, especially to the wife of the afflicted gentleman.

If you're willing to drive as far north as Hudson, try Seven Oaks..an older park, nice folks and a very good swimming pool.

There are a couple of county parks within easy reach of Tampa. E. G. Simmons in Ruskin, FL and Lithia Springs in Lithia, FL. I believe that you may get in as a "walk-in" to either one. Fort DeSoto (St. Pete) is very popular and sometimes difficult, but might be worth a shot.

Another strategy is, reserve a State Park site for one or two open nights, then, when you register at the gate, ask to shift to a walk-in site, if available. Once on a walk-in you'll probably be able to stay for 14 nights, or longer if you explain the situation to the park manager.

Try Linger Lodge

Hi Cmartin,

Try calling Linger Lodge and campground. They had a slot for our 16 Scamp as a last minute call. While not super it worked for us after we were booted out of another place that had double booked slots. We stayed 8 nights. Site was well tucked up out of the way in between some trees so quiet and shady. Full hookup and they offered weekly rates.

Office is apparently closed on Sunday.

This is only about 45 minutes from St. Pete. We left there about 14 days ago.

We are now in Clearwater, FL. visiting friends and working on a bat project. We have our Scamp 16 parked out front on the street.

Perhaps check with local churches. They might have an area in which you could park. You might want to take proof of your situation. I am sure they have heard many stories.
