Another Newbie from VA
My wife and I bought a 1984 U-Haul ct13 on Valentines Day. Its in pretty good shape. Looks like previous owners took good care of it. Still has alot of original parts (cabinet doors, Furnace, range hood, etc.) The last owner did some nice upgrades, 3way fridge, new stove, and fantastic fan. We already have a Coleman pop-up, it's nice and roomy with 2 king size beds, a slide out dinette, air conditioning, hot water, and plenty of wiggle room, but the hastle of cranking it up and down just makes it unappealing. Nothing worse than having to break camp in the rain just to come home and raise it and lower it all over again. It is so nice to just be able to walk right in whenever we want. Now comes the fun stuff. We have already unloaded all our personal stuff from the popup and stowed it iin the egg. We have got our fabric and hardware for some new curtains. We're gonna try the Allure flooring, add some AC outlets, and replace the 12v lights inside. In the end it'll feel like a luxury hotel room. Can't wait to get it out in the woods but the're forcasting snow this weekend, which would be fine for us but our dogs would go crazy being cooped up with us in such a small space for a couple days. Less is often more and this camper is just right. Glad to have found this site there is tons of great info and advice, and everyone seems very nice and encouraging.

Welcome to FiberglassRV James, we're glad you're here. Your sentiment quoted above is absolutely perfect for small molded trailer owners!

Welcome James
The second new fiberglass trailer owner in one week from Va. Sounds like the fun is just beginning for you and your wife. I'm near the bay but do a lot of mountain camping. Hope to see you around.

James,
Welcome to the Uhaul family!
CindyL
PS: Popup screen houses can be propped against the door, adding an additional room. We do that; tie back the screens on one side of a FirstUp and put it against our Uhaul for a screened-in porch. We then spend most of our time out there.

Some of our Mods
Here are some pics of our mods to date. I know everyone loves pics. Notice the Allure Flooring, New Cabinet and under counter lighting (got these through an rv dealer they have power ports to add bunk lights, we'll soon replace the bulbs with LEDs plan to back the bunk lights with velcro so they can be positioned anywhere on the carpet on the cieling.) Converted the ashtray holes (which the previous owner had covered with folding drink holders) to A.C. outlets, the holes were the perfect size, No Drilling was done. I made a bistro table out of the precut rounds they sell at Lowes for$10 and got its Pole reciever at a local rv dealer for $10. This allows plenty of room around the seating area, I know that we'll probably be using the dinette as a bed most of the time but I couldn't resist, I may rig up a stand for the table so I can use it around camp. I Lowered the top bunk down to have a more comfortable sofa (of course everything removed is safely stored in our basement in case we change our minds.) New curtains of course, isn't that one of the first things all camper owners do? I also add an outdoor light, we had one on our old camper and felt we didn't want to live without one. How about that sticker we inherited from previous owner, Nice Huh.

The last owner did the stove. It's a nice one, 2 burner electric spark with a fold down glass top that is so convienent as counter space while not cooking. Yes it is a dometic. As is the frige he also added.
