Brand new Amerigo Owner and new to Forum

Hi Everyone,

I am Sam Crimm and Live in Tullahoma,TN. 58 Single, small business owner, pilot, jack of all trades all around nice guy. Been wanting to build a teardrop and finally figured out that I didn't want to get wet or cold to cook. So I went on a search for a fiberglass camper, like all of you I wanted it lite and a project and I believe I found both! The theme of my trailer will be aviation. I have been lurking your forum and love what everyone is doing! Your a great source of information and inspiration. I have just drove in from picking up my 16' Amerigo and with this picture I will start my life with my new family of Fiberglass RV'er. So what is the bracket in the second picture? It is located on the tongue of trailer. And as you can tell I have lots of work ahead of me.
So does any one have a floor plan that has measurement for a 16' trailer?

Glad to be here and will be asking questions

Sam

Hi Sam, welcome to FiberglassRV... we're glad you're here

I think the Amerigo's are neato. I agree with Tom, this is going to be a fun rebuild to follow along. You will post lots of pictures, won't you?

Hi
Welcome to the group

I am an Amerigo wanna-be as well and have been looking for a decent 16' for some time without success. I saw one in TN advertised for a while but that was a bit to far to travel.

About your questions: That part is a tensioning bracket for the spring bar on a weight distributing hitch. There should be one on each side, but not to worry, it is a part of the hitch, not the trailer itself. Due to it's fairly light weight a WD hitch usually isn't needed on the Amerigo 16'.

I don't know what you want in a floorplan, but rest assured that almost nothing is available. Let us know what you want to do and you will get a lot of help.

I have a sales brochure for te 16'er and that's about it.

Thanks Donna, I had already look in at them. I think it is great way for people to have access information about their trailer! As I gather information I will also send it in.
Thanks
Sam

I am thinking about putting the wings on the top above the windows to be honest.
Thanks for asking Mike.

object on trailer hitch

if there is a duplicate or a rust spot in the same shape on the other side, I believe it was a weight distributing hitch that would be attached to the ball attachment on the tow vehicle. BUT those are usually used on way heavier trailers. I have used them but usually on trailers that run from 5000 lbs and up. bumper pulls not fifth wheels.

I also have an Amerigo but I have a bit harder problem. It was gutted to the walls literally and am trying to create a modified interior. the top will pop up also to give me some stand up room since I am 6'6".

good luck!

Hey Marty,
I have seen your pictures and yes your trailer is clean....seems like we are having the same problem with the interior. I know what I want in the trailer and have most of it setting in the shop. But the planning is the hardest!
