Compact Jr in SoCal

Hello everyone, I just picked up a Compact Jr that my boss gave to me. Never seen one of these and don't know what year it is since he lost paperwork for it years ago and said it's fallen out of DMV system.
Anyone know what would be the first step in trying to register it? What are they worth? I don't want to dump a bunch of money into it if it's not worth anything. It's in pretty good condition. Has a stove, refrigerator and what I think is a heater as well as water storage.
Sorry for the long post but I'm truly lost lol
Any advice or direction is greatly appreciated

Welcome to the group Mike. First off it is worth $$ and you say it's in pretty good condition, good. Pull up the Ca DMV website and check the info for out of system regs. People do it all the time. New tires, a bearing check and repack and working wiring are the first things you want to do. BTW, that model has a pretty good following. Nice boss, just don't tell him/her what they gave up .

Thanks Dave. Would you happen to know where the vin # is located? It has a few stamped plates but nothing legible.
The material around the pop up needs to be replaced but other than that it's pretty clean.

One of those stamped plates will have a short number stamped into it. That's your vin. I think ours is only four digits. CA DMV will license it. What you need is a bill of sale/gift. Ours has a plate that has no year sticker due to the age of the trailer.
There is a huge market for these rarities so they command a surprisingly high price.

The "VIN" on my Compact Jr is only four digits long, since it was built before mandatory long vin numbers.

The VIN on my 1971 Compact Jr is only 4 digits long. Here's a picture of the two stamped tags on the back, the top one has date of manufacture and VIN number...
