Smile Fallin' for a scamp? Where can I meet one?

Hello: my family of three is looking into RVing and I like the features, look, and portability of the 5th wheel scamp. Problem: where can I see one (other than MI) before we decide to pursue. We live in Northern Delaware and it would be great to have a look at one. If you live w/in 1- 2 hours would yo be willing to have us up for a look see or meet somewhere on the road?

Also what other fiberglass RVs make 5th wheels?

I appreciate any and all suggestions.

Fallin :
Ellen

Hi Hellen, if you go to the top of this page and "Click" on the "More" tab, a dorp down for rally calendar or rally map will appear. Click on one of those to find where a gathering of all molded fiberglass rv's in the state you would be willing to drive to. There is always an "open house" showing by it's attendees, and usually there will be a Scamp, Big Foot, or Escape 5th wheel in attendance. You may even find that one of the other travel trailers may fit your needs. You can also contact Scamp factory for a list of people in your area who have purchased a new one from them.
Good luck in finding what you are looking for.

Rally! Good tips

That's a great tip... I will see if there are some that we could get to over a weekend. Also good to know the other 5th wheel brands. Thanks for the quick reply.

Bigfoot made fifth wheels but not anymore. There are some used ones tat surface once in a while. The Bigfoots are wider and single and tandem axle models are available. Escape currently makes a tandem axle fifth wheel and previously made a single axle fifth wheel.

Ellen, if no one close by to you sees your post and chimes in, another way to find nearby Scamps is to call the factory and ask for a referral. They keep a list of owners from all over the country who've said they are willing to show off their Scamps. Tell them you want to look at a 19'er and they probably know someone near you.

If you join the Scamp club, they can set you up with someone in your area.

I just bought an almost new one sight unseen, bc they're so hard to find.

I used a bunch of books, and paced everything out on my living room floor to figure out how it would feel to be inside one. That actually worked really well.

Hi Ellen,

Are you still looking for a Scamp?

I just posted mine. I'm in Central NJ Exit 8 off of the NJ Turnpike

http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...tml#post607986

Let me know if you'd like to come up and see it.
