Family of four and new owners of a 2014 Scamp 16 Deluxe with front bunks

Hello

We are a family of four from Manitoba Canada (just north of North Dakota) and just recently purchased a 2014 Scamp 16 Deluxe from the original owner. From the sounds of it there aren't too many Canadian Scamp owners but looking forward to meeting you. We were incredibly lucky that the perfect scamp showed up for sale in our hometown. We are in love with the "bigger" bed on the deluxe and the previous owner ordered it with the front bunks instead of the dinette so it's the ideal setup.

First Mod I had to do was build a proper bunk bed railing and ladder for our 4 year old, and enclose the bottom bunk into a crib for our 1 year old. I'm a typical do it yourselfer so grabbed some lumber and a couple handheld power tools. I'm pretty proud of what I came up with over a couple evenings. First 3 night camping trip was a success as both kids slept through the night.

For the bunk support and railing, I did four vertical 2x2s. I attached a 2x2 that runs the width of the camper, then on top of that I put a 1x4 laying flat that also runs the width. The top bunk now rests on the 1x4. I put 4 short screws through the bottom of the 1x4 into the bottom of the factory top bunk, and four screws into the top of the bottom cabinet. The whole apparatus is super solid, and shouldn't be too noticeable when I remove it. We plan to leave it as a bunk only until the kids are much older and will just remove the "gate" once the youngest has outgrown the crib phase.

Hopefully my pictures load, if not will follow up with a couple pics.

Congrats on your new-to-you Scamp. That layout and your modification looks great! I turned the photo for better viewing.

Welcome fellow Scamp owner and fellow Toban. I purchased my 2014 16 ft layout 6 from the factory in 2014. We've been all over with it. This year of course we have been restricted to Mb. St Malo a few times, Gimli Motorsports Park for the third time this coming weekend, Wasagaming , Spruce Woods and one night at Stanley Park Morden. You are lucky to be under a dry roof with you little ones. When ours were young we tented, then pop-up and now the kids are grown and doing their own camping with little ones. Now my wife has her own shower and bath. Long awaited. Congratulations.

Gimli motorsports track! You must be up there for the sports car club racing. I used to race a sportbike there in my early 20s, but that's nearly a decade ago now.

We had an 1994 8ft pop-up that was a hand me down from the father in law, but setup was getting tiresome. So we made the switch to a "full-size" camper. Been to almost all the MB campgrounds with the pop-up and even a week in the Black Hills a couple years back. Looking forward to many memories next summer. I hear there's even a fiberglass camper rally at St Malo every summer

Looks Great! Congrats on your NTU Scamp. Hope to meet other Scampers once everything opens back up.
