Going to look at a '76 Trillium: advice?

Hi, all. I'm hoping to go see a 1976 Trillium 1300 that is for sale about an hour from me. The owner is asking $3300 obo and claims that all systems are working. I have not seen photos yet and will require those before I drive out there. I just wanted to see if there is anything beyond the basics of trailer-shopping that I should look out for. (Anything specific to Trilliums?) I am planning to write down the serial number if I can. (Inside the closet door, right?)

I haven't seen a Trillium in the flesh before so I'm psyched to go see it.

Right.

Typical issues:
Missing front window rock guard, (hard to find)
Separating ensolite insulation, (fixable)
Sagging door, (easy to fix)
Leaking belly band, (less easy to fix)
Leaking windows, or more the sealant around the windows, (also less easy)

The last three are going to be common to all Trilliums that have not had a refurb.

Actually, they are fairly durable. Unless the roof is collapsed, like mine, or the floor is spongy, then they are fairly easy to fix.

investigate the frame issue ...

Full disclosure: I own a 4500 and have had no problems.

Read up on this:
http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...nfo-32242.html

and check the frame on your specific unit.

If you find/suspect trouble ... bid lower. This is a fixable issue.

Thanks. I knew you guys would have good info for me! My understanding is that I should look for a crack in the metal frame towards the front of the trailer. I'm guessing this is underneath? (Please pardon my ignorance. )

After 38yrs. the axel is most likely shot, unless it's been replaced. Look for tire rub marks in the wheel wells.

The holding tank makes me wonder what kind of Trillium it is. The 1300 and 4500 never came with any holding tank, unless he just means the water tank.

Maybe they added something. The did make special mention of it.
Hmmm using my far far away vision I see a blue tank. A blue tank bungee corded someplace under a camper. It has wheels

With any of these older ones it's always a toss of the dice as to what has changed and how. And how well implemented. Could be someone installed an actual holding tank for the sink complete with stinky slinky hook up.
