Harry and the Hendersons...Life with a Bigfoot

Hi!

We're so excited to have recently purchased a 2001 Bigfoot travel trailer. It is in super shape but we are super newbs and we are going to need all the help we can get. We want to take off and full time...see how we like it. It needs some cosmetic work, etc but otherwise it is in great condition. I am sure I will be asking for some help when I'm getting it ready to Go Full-timing It's an overwhelming but incredibly freeing decision we made (over the course of 3 years with much nail biting). Cheers to all the Modern Nomads trekking about! Can't wait to start having some adventures of our own!

Hi, Aimee,
Welcome to the group.

I guess you know about the organization Escapees for fulltimers. Their forum has all kinds of great info.

Good luck with your new life and please tell us about it.

It's a 25B21RB! We love the size, big enough for us, but not too big to tow. We have a Dodge Ram 1500 with a Hemi for towing.

Me too! We also have the 25b21rb and love it!
I am right now in process of doing the Meguiar's oxidation remover. What a job but it is looking like new even though it is 7 years old.

Hi Harry! We just purchased a 2001 BF 17'. We believe it to be in great condition too! We want to reseal the windows prior to taking it out since it is 14 years old, but other than that, everything is in great working condition! Keep us posted. Excited to hear about your adventures!

Also a great name for someone who is going to be followed by Sasquatch everywhere they go from now on.

What is this oxidation remover? We're currently assessing what needs to be done to ours, probably resealing the windows as well. We are also coating the chassis with POR-15. I was also thinking of giving it a UV coating for protection on the road. I noticed some of the sealant along the band could use a redo as well. Not sure if that's really necessary...probably so excited I'm going overboard!!!
Just giving it a good "spa treatment" before we head out and hit the road.

And we just had to name our Bigfoot Harry We love that movie too!

Big Foot Insurance

Congratulations on picking a Big Foot. It is top of the line if you ask me. Make sure you have emergency towing for both the tow vehicle and the trailer. Look into AAA and Good Sam for this must have insurance. A couple of years ago my pick up battery went out while traveling off road in the desert of Nevada. AAA came out and towed both the truck and the Casita out of the desert to the nearest town. Usually they won't come out in the desert to rescue you but I was only a short ways off the highway. The tow truck was a nifty flat bed that tilted to allow the pick up truck to be pulled by chains up onto the flat bed. The Casita was towed behind the tow truck and it worked good. I don't drive when it gets dark, because of maybe running into a Big Foot crossing the highway.
