Hello from Kentucky

My wife and I just bought a Uhaul CT and it needs a lot of work. We are very excited and maybe a bit in over our heads. I'm sure I'll be on here a lot asking questions and trying to figure all this out.

Welcome, Natalie!

When you start to feel "over your head," remember the old adage about how to eat an elephant... one bite at a time. Best advice I've heard is not to attempt too much all at once. You don't want to get to nice camping weather with your trailer still in pieces. Set your priorities, starting with making it clean, safe to tow, and watertight.

You might want to start with some good pictures and a list of the problems you see.

Congratulations on the "new" trailer, and happy travels!

Welcome, Natalie. You should also consider joining the UHaul Camper group on Facebook, if you haven't already done so. They can povide lots of help, too.

Hi Natalie!

Always nice to see another couple from KY on the forum. Welcome! Congrats on the U-Haul. Great little egg campers. We know a few couples that camp in the UHaul 13’ and we know a couple that has both 13’ and 16 U-Hauls.

I am not the fix-it type, so I can’t help ya there. But, Laura and I are starting our 3rd year with our ‘05 Casita and have camped 97 nights so far.

Once you are up and running, you need to attend some rallies. Let me know if you want to know more about “local” rallies (350 miles or less).

Take care,

Welcome to the forum and fiberglass ownership!

We redid our 73 amerigo completely in 2015/2016; I sometimes called it our "toothpick remodeling" because some days it seemed we only got a toothpick sliver worth of work done on it. But in nine months we were able to take it camping.

It's never quite finished...each trip we come home and refine it a bit more--another toothpick worth or so.

You can do it!
