Hello from Michigan

HI There,

Joining you from the Thumb area of Michigan. Looking forward to camping in the Great Lakes State. We selected a fiberglass camper because we wanted something light weight that could be towed with our VW diesel. Michigan has beautiful campgrounds, some of them you have to book months in advance. Looking foward to exploring them with my 5 year old twins. I also plan to drag along the husband on a few trips. Gotta make sure we have WIFI

We bought a home brew 13 foot egg camper for a couple hundred dollars. It is currently stripped and my goal is to have it camp worthy by June 1st.

We're keeping it pretty simple, no kitchen or water. Just a mini-fridge and micro. It will have some decent power outlets to feed our numerous gadgets.

Getting great ideas already from the forum. So glad I found you.

Welcome from another Michigander. I bought my UHaul in the Thumb - home of many good people.

Feel free to post pictures of your trailer. Creativity is admired here.

Thanks - I need to grab some before pictures. The guy who's helping me with it, is just about to take it off the frame to sand blast and repaint it. He just took a massively oversized heater/ac off the roof. It must weigh 400+ lbs, probably designed for a class A motor home, can't believe it could hold it up! We're gonna replace with a simple skylight and go another route for heat and ac.

Hi Jenn! What brand of egg trailer is it? Most of them do not have sufficient body rigidity to survive being towed for long when the inner cabinets and such have been removed. You probably will want to install some sort of inner supports for the sides and roof, so it doesn't wiggle itself to death or cave in under snow load.

I'm another Michigander, living south of Flint. Photos needed! Definitely 'before' photos so we can see how fabulous it looks when complete

Hi Jenn and family!
Welcome to the forum. You will be hard pressed to meet a nicer group anywhere.
Though I live in Toledo, my Scamp lives on a semi permanant site near Grayling. I use it as a base camp when ATVing. My most recent outing was the last weekend of March. Even with temperatures at or below freezing, I stayed cozy with just an electric heater. (Once I got the inside warmed up, that is).
Here is a picture of my first trip of the year.

Again, welcome to the group!
