Hello from Michigan

Hello, I have been lurking here for quite some time and now I thought I should get serious.

My wife and I are on the hunt for an Egg Camper, Escape or Bigfoot. (Something for a taller person :-)

I will be sure to post questions and answers as I go.

Thanks in advance for everyone who contributes to these pages,

Dusty

Welcome, Dusty!

You might want to add Parkliner and Lil Snoozy to your short list of taller trailers. Dunno what you're looking for besides tall, but they are that.

Best wishes in your "egg hunt"!

Thnaks Jon,

True on those...however the Parkliner is out of budget and the lil snoozy...I guess I need to see more of. Only seen one video with one in it so I'll check on them now.

FYI we are looking at the used market.....Unless Jim (Palmer) wants to start making eggs again :-)

Welcome Dustin! Lil Snoozy is a great camper but they are very hard to find used. In fact there was one listed here earlier this week but it sold in less than 24 hours. You'll have to jump quickly to get one of those! Have fun in your search for the Egg of your dreams!!!!!

Welcome! Good luck finding a used one. You got to be fast. The used eggs don't last long. We have a LiL Snoozy on order & are excited to finally pick it up soon I hope.
I think it is worth the wait. Great folks there too. They are in South Carolina.

Welcome fellow Michigander!

Oh the struggle - so many fiberglass trailer brands out there and used ones are few and far in between and sell fast.

I had the opportunity to look at Steve and Deb's Lil' Snoozy camper at the Lake Linden, Michigan get-together last week and would highly recommend them for the taller folks since they come with a real queen size bed and 6'5" headroom. Yes, they're a little unconventional with the rear door, rear wall mounted AC, and offset wheels but each has its advantages. Roof mounted ACs are sadly not much quieter now then they were 20 years ago and the wheels mounted out from under the trailer substantially reduces fiberglass damage should a blowout occur. I personally prefer a side dinette over a couch which probably was the number one reason I didn't pursue a Snoozy but that could probably be remedied with a simple mod.

Good luck with your search!

Algonac Glassic Egg Scramble

Dusty,

I would also recommend you visit the Algonac Glassic Egg Scramble Sept. 7-9 at Algonac State Park and check out the FGRVs. The last time I counted, there will be 4 Escape 19s, 2 Eggcampers, 2 Bigfoots, and many other brands for a total of 41 trailers.

Dusty,
Don’t know where in Michigan but you’re welcome to come and inspect my Escape 19. I’m just outside Newaygo toward Fremont.

Thanks for that! We are in Grand Rapids. My in-laws are from Fremont. I have been there many times.

I have a lead on a camper and hope to land it this week. If not I would love to see your Escape. They were one of the tops on my list. Just cant find them this side of the country :-) (For sale anyway).....

Hi

I have a 2008 17B in very good condition for sale in Moncton, New Brunswick, about 1200 miles east of Detroit. Nice thing about buying Canadian is the advantage of the USA/Cdn dollar exchange rate. I'd be asking $10,000 US.
You can contact me at davidkmaidenat gmail.com.

Dusty, you say tall but don't say how tall. I'm 6'2" and standing up in a LitBigfoot or an Escape 15a is just fine. It's sleeping in the bed that can be a problem. The LitBigfoot, which is like a Scamp or Bolar, has rounded corners, which limits the bed for whoever gets the side against the back wall. It was extremely uncomfortable for me.
The Escape, which is shaped like a Trillium, has more squared corners. The bed is an honest full sized. Night and day difference.

The Escape, being newer, 2011, has many more upgrades than the 97' Bigfoot. Dual pane tinted glass windows vs. single pane, non tint on the Bigfoot. The front and rear window on the Bigfoot are plexiglass. The dual pane really cuts down sound and temperature transmission. Important in noisy campgrounds.

Thanks everyone! I am happy to report we purchased an EggCamper this past week and took it out on a nice trip to Northern Michigan (Lower). Everything went absolutely great!

I'll post more in different sections here....just wanted to say Hi.
