Hi Adriene,
Welcome to the RV world! Fiberglass is a great way go. I pull my 17' Casita with a Tacoma extra cab. I get the idea of SUV but suggest you also look at the Double cab Tacoma with the short bed. It is great to be able to carry extra stuff there and with a topper very convenient for RV adventures. I live in Colorado and find the Tacoma does well in the mountains as well. Have fun and you are at the right place for good advice... lots of experience to be gleaned from!

TV and Trailer.

G'day: We tow a 1976 Boler 1300 with a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe. Love both, and it works well. Somewhat off the subject, but a good consideration for your kayak aspect. Thule makes the "Hulevator" kayak rack (don't know if i spelled that correctly) which makes the kayak loading much easier. How easy depends on your kayak weight. Problem is, the loader is expensive. I made my own version at considerably less cost, but they do work well.
