Hello from Nova Scotia!
Hello everyone!
I just purchased a 1972 13' boler recently. I've had my eye on it for about 15 years! It sat in a farmers yard out west for more years then I am old. As a last ditch effort to try and purchase it I had my father enquire about it. Initially they had the same old story "no, it's not for sale" but to my surprise they called him back a week later, questioned his motives and then satisfied by his response they agreed to sell it to him. He's going to be getting it road worthy and driving it up to me next spring.
I feel like I won the lottery!
I've been looking through this site and I'm glad to find a group of people as passionate about these old things as I am. Looks like there is a wealth of information here and I'm looking forward to going through it!
Cheers,
Vee

Not all are "old things," either. My much newer Scamp is very little changed from the vintage Bolers. They're a bit like VW Beetles: a classic design that never goes out of style.
Welcome to the "egg" community! So glad your persistence finally paid off! I suspect I will have an equally hard time letting go of mine when the time comes.
Happy camping!

Welcome, Vee!! And congratulations on your Boler.
There are new ones and old ones and in-between ones. We have an Outback made in Calgary by Team Trillium. It's a 2004. Absolutely love it.
Where is it that your Boler was found? You said "out west".....and I am assuming that your father lives nearby to wherever it is.
Will you have a say in how the refurbishment goes? Or is he just getting it roadworthy for you and then you will make interior changes to suit yourself???
Remember to take lots of photos and post some here for us to see the before and after transformation.

Thanks!
The boler is from my home town in Saskatchewan. My folks still live in the area. The owners bought it second hand in '82 or '83(they couldn't agree on the year). They used it once and used it for storage there after. Kind of sad
It's pretty clean on the inside, looks to be all original. No signs of leaks or critters. The outside was black from the top to about the middle. Seems like the tall grass kept the lower half fairly clean! My father blew up the tires and slowely towed it home on the back roads....
He's getting new tires and bearings. Having the frame, wiring and propane looked at and just doing basic cleaning. He's talking about having the cusions redone and he's doing small things like window screens. The one thing missing are the bunk poles so he's going to fabricate some of those.
I imagine the rest will be up to myself and my family of soon to be 4. Wish I could help now but we're a long way from "home" and we have a baby due right away. Nice to have something to look forward to to get us through the unpredictable Atlantic winters until iits arrival in the spring.

Sounds like it's going to be a fun summer, 2018. Two new babies--one human, one fibreglass!!
Nova Scotia has so many wonderful places to explore, as do the other Maritime provinces. You can while away the winter (between feedings, lol) planning your camping trips!
Remind your father to take photos!!

Haha! Yes, two new babies is right!!
So far he's doing well taking pictures. He's not too technologically inclined but he's trying! That being said, I'll post a couple once I figure out how to do so! Lol

Cool
I just talked to a couple from Manitoba that had a 13 foot Boler about the same age as yours. They had stopped at the Scamp factory to pick up a front cabinet that evidently fits. Enjoy your Camper!

Hi John,
It's pretty great that many new scamp parts will work with the boler! Thanks for sharing

Welcome to Boler world from a fellow adopted Bluenoser!
Congrats! I bought a '74 Boler two years ago and had it gutted, re-fibreglassed (to fill many holes), and redesigned! If you need some affordable work done check out Underway Tiny Homes near Windsor, NS.
Have fun!

Thanks for the tip, Pamelia!
Good to know there's somewhere close that can work on it.

We hit NS this past June, but we lost a lot of time trying to replace DH's passport once he realized he didn't pack it. I told him he owes me two more weeks in NS/NF!
