I purchased my '71 PlayPac this summer, but have yet to camp in her. I upgraded from a modified TimeOut tent trailer since folding up the TimeOut was getting too difficult for just one person to handle and I often pack up without assistance.
Since graduating from tent on-the-ground camping to trailer camping my approach has been that whatever I pull has to be
light enough to be pulled behind a '98 Toyota Camry which has a 2000 lb tow capacity. When I decided to upgrade from the tent trailer I found a PlayPac
for sale on this site, did some research and found info that said it met the criteria.
My little gem has gone through it's share of changes and is just fine to be used just the way she sits. But, with the help of a friend, I plan to do some modernization. My friend likes to joke that this project is appealing because I will be footing the bill. Often, I help with their projects... thus it's their dime.
This winter I'll come up with a list of renovations, a floor plan and research materials that can be used. I expect to redo
lighting, seating/sleeping, storage, plumbing, cooktop and flooring. I may add in a
fridge and who knows what else. The funny thing is that I was initially okay to use her just the way she is. But now, a little vision has been planted in by brain and I want to see where it goes.
