Hello from SE Minnesota!

Hi! My husband Terry and I placed our order with Alan at the Scamp factory for our 2011 16ft Standard Side Dinette in December. We are planning on taking delivery in mid April and we are quite excited to start our camping trips soon after. We are long time campers and decided we wanted to down size. We decided the fiberglass campers best met our needs. We are also avid Jeep owners, and look forward to having the option of towing our Scamp with several of the different Jeep vehicles we own. Living here in Minnesota made it easy for us to check out the Scamps first hand - we made a trip to the Scamp factory in Backus last August and came away quite impressed with what we saw. From first impressions, it appears that we will be able to obtain a wealth of information and support from this website related to our new little Scamp!

Congratulations, we're happy for you and with you. Was the wait that long, or did you prefer not to pick it up till then?

Welcome from central Minnesota. We tow our 16" side dinette Casita with a 97 Jeep Cherokee and are very happy with it.
Also note there is a Camping event in Duluth Minnesota June 11th, you might want to attend and see what others in our area have done to theirs to make them home. Also note there will be a Scamp in Clear Lake Iowa in Sept. there will be details coming.

Thank you for the welcome!! In response to Mike Magee's question, we chose to take delivery in April. My impression is that we could get it much sooner if desired (build time is also about 5 weeks). We will be sure to take pictures to post when we take delivery and when we embark on our camping excursions. I am going to check out info regarding the campground near the Scamp factory as it would be nice to check out how the trailer functions while we're still near the factory prior to driving 5 hours back home. We will see how the June Scamp gathering in Duluth will fit into our schedule - it would be fun to see other fiberglass trailers and their owners. Thanks for all the info and tips.

Be advised that that campground was just opening on May 4th 2009 when I got my Scamp. They may not be open in April.

Diane R - We have enjoyed camping a few times at William O'Brien State Park, not far from St. Croix Falls. In fact we visited beautiful St. Croix Falls when we went canoeing across the river starting at Taylor Falls, MN. Keep warm there up north!

Welcome from the Minneapolis area. Hope the snow is off the ground when you go to get your new Scamp. Most campgrounds open May 1st. You may want to check out that campground by the factory and prolong your pick up a few weeks. It would be nice to try it out up by the factory in case you have any questions or concerns. Happy Scamping.
