Hello from the Central Coast of CA

Hello!
I'm on the central coast of California and looking for my first egg. We're hoping to find a 16' or 17' somewhere on the west coast and then join you as egg owners!

Hi Jane! Welcome! Do you have any specific brand of trailer in mind?

I love Morro Bay, very pretty camp ground there by the marina!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

No brand dedication at this point - there seem to be so few used, on the west coast, and in my price range that I'm open. I've been checking here, casita forum, craigslist (I've seen a few scams!), etc. And one minor hitch, have to convince the spouse that these are much better than r pods ;-) (sigh).

Jane, I'm thinking you SHOULD be able to find something in the $8,000 range that will be perfectly usable and will bring you many years of enjoyment. I encourage you STRONGLY to download and print the molded fiberglass trailer Buyers Checklist and take it with you everytime you view a trailer. Knowledge is power and there are lots of people here to help you.

In your search, along with the For Sale and Referrals forums here, I'd also suggest:
Molded Fiberglass Trailers | Fiberglass RV's For Sale and a method to search All Craigslist listings: Classifieds - Claz.org just be wise as you know there are scammers in the wings. Probably the biggest advice is when you see one for sale be prepared to JUMP ON IT. The closer we get to camping season the faster trailers seem to be sold.

BTW: there's nothing wrong with the TaB there's several members here that either currently have one or HAD one. However, this is a molded fiberglass forum and we're a bit (ALOT) biased....

Thank you, Donna D!

I'll print the checklist - how helpful and I didn't know about searching craigslist like that - much appreciated.

I'm biased too - I really like the fiberglass trailers, so I might be in the right place :-)

Hi Jane!

I am on the Central Coast as well-I looked for a Fiberglass Trailer for a year before finally finding one over in Tucson. I love the convenience of camping with it-about a year after I bought it I took it all over the western states for a little over a month one summer (just me, my 5 year old and our dog) and slept well through all types of weather.

The T@B trailers are adorable, but they are not very nice in the rain (the kitchen is out back, and if you were stuck indoors for a couple of days with no headroom and really no space to move around, I think the T@B would suddenly seem way too small!) I don't think a Boler or Scamp 13 would weigh much more than it and the indoor space for cooking and eating and the added headroom will be so much nicer!

Hi ToniMT!

I'm just north of you in SLO County. I've been looking around and really like the 17' Casita Deluxe - either Spirit or Freedom models. There are a few used ones around and you offer good advice about Arizona. I'll look. Thanks!

Some of the rpod (model 171) (is that a T@B??) are all self contained and have an inside kitchen and you can get a new one much cheaper than a Casita, but I really like the Casitas. Just hoping the spouse will agree and we can get moving! I can't wait to be able to take the dogs and go - even if just down your way for a weekend of good surf!
