Hello From TN

Hi I'm Larry in TN.
I'm looking for an older mild fixer upper 16' Scamp ($5000ish budget) with a bath in preparation for a family of four trip out west in the spring of 2018. I thought about other campers but keep coming back to molded fiberglass. We have a 6cyl 2008 Toyota Highlander that is going to need brake wiring, a brake controller and possibly a tranny cooler. i have some cash in savings but really need to use that for a house project so was thinking of financing if i find something. The problem with financing is that most of these trailers are way above NADA guides as far as if have seen. And of course the bank will not make a loan on something below NADA. So I will keep looking, mostly because its fun and slightly addictive, but will probably end up buying something for cash early next year. Cash is always better but I'm afraid that i might not have much time to make repairs on a fixer before the big trip out west. What a quandry!

thanks,

Larry

Hi Larry,

Welcome! I bet you can find that 16' Scamp trailer out there for that big trip.

Take care,

Dean

Welcome, Larry. You are right to resist the temptation to finance a trailer (toy). If the time is not right to buy, just wait. Good luck with your search.

Thanks Dean!
Will be for ever on the look out! It's kind of an obsession now! I really need to continue to save up for one and pay cash!

Thanks Shelby,
hopefully I can save up and get one before our trip in 2018! Love those fiberglass trailers!
