Hello I am rachael, sister of Natasha.

Hello all. My name is Rachael. I grew up in small community in Northern California. Camping was our summer activity. My sister and I have a slightly unhealthy obsession with camping according to her husband. We get cabin fever in the winter and crave camping when we have been stuck inside too long. She just got her first camper. A compact jr. This should keep us warm and dry. She is restoring as we speak. I wish it was my project to share with this group. I would love to have a matching or similar camper trailer. Restoration would be even better. The joy and pride for a beloved project is something I look forward too. Can’t wait to explore this community with you all. -Rachael

Welcome to the forum, looks like you have the right idea on camping and camping trailers. This forum should be able to answer many of your question and hopefully guide you along your way to all the joys that all fellow campers enjoy. My advise is find a used camper that needs some work, but not a total re-due as too much time spend on the trailer is taking away from you enjoying it and getting away from that cabin fever that so brings us all down in those winter months. PS, trailers do have heaters to keep you warm.

Wasn't there a Compact Jr project for sale in CA? Or is it the one your sister bought?

Assist with her project and then hopefully she will be there to help you later! In the meantime, you are gaining knowledge and skill.

One really nice thing about the Compact Jr is it will fit in almost any garage. This is HUGE when working on the trailer, being indoors and DRY, while you remove windows, or whatever.

I really like the old Hunter trailers. I am always partial to the Compact II, I like the parallelogram windows better.

Wow, that one in Phoenix is superb! Price is strong, but WOW, its amazing condition wise.

Hello I am rachael, sister of Natasha.

Welcome, Rachel!

Keep your eyes open on the classifieds here, at www.fiberglass-rv-4sale.com, and nearby Craigslist. The Hunters come up from time to time. And yes, there is a project Compact Jr. listed here, no pictures. At $900 it probably needs a lot of work.

Hunter made two models. The Compact Jr. is the smaller and lighter of the two. Expect 1300-1500# loaded for camping. The larger comes in two variations, Compact I and Compact II. They’re wider with a sculpted clamshell-style shell. Expect 1600-1800#.

You can also look for a Trailswest Campster, different company but very similar to the Hunter Compact Jr. All share the same basic rear entry layout and garageable height with pop-top roof.

There’s a nicely renovated Compact II for sale in Phoenix right now. It appears ready to camp today. Jump right ahead of your sister!

(I have no personal knowledge of the trailer or seller- just happened to see the ad. Note that the original fridge or icebox has been removed, the only significant drawback I can see.)
