Hello! New here and to RVs in general :)

Hi there.

What a lovely forum you all have here! My husband and I have been looking at purchasing an old 1972 Amerigo FG-16 and I have grudgingly fallen in love with the scruffy, disreputable-looking thing. The camper is nice too. Haha.

I found this forum while searching for info and it looks like a great resource.

Hope to have a chance to chat with all of you and learn from your experience.

Best,

Deborah + Eric in Ontario

Another Ontari-own-e-on. Great.

Sounds like you have the egg bug. That's a good thing.

I don't see a "like" button, so I will just say thanks! And please tell me what the egg bug is lol. Is it contagious?

Smallish fiberglass trailers are known in some circles as "glass eggs" because of their shape and construction materials. and yes they can be contagious.

You're here and, by your own admission, have fallen in love with a molded fiberglass towable. You exhibit all the symptoms...

Fortunately, it's the rare disease that actually improves quality of life.

Look at the BIGGER eggs

Howdy, I think you will be much happier in a bigger molded fiberglass travel trailer. My wife and I had lived in ours for over 8 years. In that time we have concluded bigger is better. Ours was the Casita SD (spirit delux) model 17 ft. and it was a good choice because it provided more storage space. Believe me you will need all the storage space you can find. We used the bed of our pickup truck to store all the stuff you will need for camping. Lawn chairs, recliners, patio carpet, ladder for climbing up on top to clean the top and wax it. You will be accumulating stuff all the time, so get the windoors for your fiberglass cap that protects all this stuff from the elements. You will love these side doors to open and reach in and grab what you need, instead of climbing over the tailgate and bumping your head on the inside of the roof. Experenced campers use trucks because even though the Casita 17 footer is only about 2500lbs unloaded, once you load it up with stuff you will be glad to have a pickup truck of half ton or better when going up and down 6% grades. Living in Canada you will probably need 4 wheel drive because of snow and slick roads. The way the economy of the world is going you can sleep good at night knowing that if you loose the house you can live in your self contained egg anywhere you have a mind to go (even off road if you have 4 wheel drive). Anytime you like just drop us a line here for a quick answer to your questions.
