Hello, New (used) Scamp owner from Washington State
Hello, my wife and I just picked up a 1977 13' Scamp last weekend at a garage sale for $200. Before that, I had never even heard of a Scamp. I discovered this forum the night we bought it, and have spent every night since, searching and gathering info on here. I am exited and inspired to start a rebuild/makeover right away. Its like some bug bit me! I have ideas running through my head all day! Well, I plan to continue using this site for reference, inspiring ideas, and contribute to it. I would like to post pictures, but I am not sure how to do so, or if I can with my iPad.

Wow, $200? That is crazy cheap, even if it needs a lot of work.
Welcome and congratulations.

Welcome aboard,
You have cought a very bad diease. It will spread to your wallet and will change your life style. If left unchecked you may contract another form called 3 footitis leaving you a thirst for an even larger abode. Be very careful, everywhere you go you will be under close scrutinity. You will be demanded to submit to close inspections at a drop of a hat. I got my new/used Scamp last October. Everytime you bump your head on the door way money will fall out of your pocket. It just does it I dont know why. Cant get in or out of this thing without spending money. I'm glad I am short.
Good luck with your adventure.
Steve

I wouldn't advertise that price around other SCAMP owners, you could be arrested for WPC138.54, Grand Theft Scamp.
As Steve mentioned, you are already in line for some huge fines and as well as forced confinement at RV Parks, Camp grounds and Boon Docking locales.
BTW: It did come with a title I trust????
Where abouts are you in WA? I used to live in Chelan.

Welcome to FiberglassRV Jeremy, we're glad you're here!
Wow $200. Mine cost me LOTS more because it's soooo much newer.... by nine years . You'll find that $200 to be about the best money you've ever spent because the memories you'll make are priceless.
There's a couple of egg gatherings happening in Washington State. Hope to meet you

Hello again and thanks for the warm welcome! Thanks Carol for the Ipad app info, I am now going to try to add my pics.
I live in Olympia, I do travel to Chelan every summer, as my aunt has a place on the river just below there. Yes, I did get a title with the Scamp! My wife and I thought, "how could we go wrong at $200?". I plan to spend much, much more than that on the restoration, but it's so small, it can't be that bad, can it? And Donna, nice to meet you, I think I have seen your name and comments on every single thread I have read. I think it would be fun to go to a gathering sometime. I noticed there is one coming up near Morton, but I highly doubt the little scamp will be road worthy by then. My wife and I are very interested in joining up sometime though. Thanks again for the welcome everyone!

Cool.. pics! Jeremy, the trailer doesn't need to be perfect... just perfect for you. Camping season is fast coming on ( ). I'd suggest getting 'er cleaned up and safe to go down the road... then get out and use it. You'd be surprised that by using it, some changes/mods you're thinking about may not be needed and others will. Lots of folks have used their trailers as hardsided tents for a while until they get a feel for what's needed. You don't want to miss out on one trip you can take in our relatively short camping season.

The cost of restoration will be offset by the savings in hotel rooms. We have gone places we never would have gone since getting our first fiberglass camper. Plus, now you will be able to make it yours.
So does this price affect the value for the rest of us like it does in real estate when someone sells a house near you cheaply ?
Welcome.

Jeremy,
A literal steal. I'm sure in the future you'll consider it one of your best investments, from both a financial and a fun perspective. Wishing you well.
My Seattle son has a 1977 and has a blast with it.

Congrats on a great find! Maybe you can share renovation ideas with my husband Ron and I since we live in Olympia too. We are having to make some planned/unplanned repairs but hope we will get everything done by the first Wa. gathering that we signed up for. You will have fun traveling in your Scamp!.

It does sound tempting to double, or even make ten times the money just by re-reselling, but I am beyond that now! Had I know the value of the scamp before bring it home, I probably would have sold it, but now I am hooked on it, and you can't get it from me now! I have a 13 year old son, and yesterday, we totally gutted it. It seems to be a great little project to work on with him. Even better, knowing we will be having good times traveling and camping in it. I will probably start posting pictures in the resto and mods section. For now, my goal is to get everything cleaned up, frame checked, floor and fiberglass work done, and in the mean time, plan for a layout that works for us. We have a family reunion near Mt. Rushmore in July, so I am planning to have it ready to go by then. And Tammy, sure I would like to share any ideas with you and your husband, and with anyone for that matter. Nice to know there is someone right here in town! Well, time to go to work on it!

Hey fellow Olympia Scampers! We own a 1977 13' too, and would love to meet up and talk eggs. If you're interested, let's correspond via private message on this forum. So happy to have more Scamp enthusiasts in town (and that really was an amazing buy--$200?! Wow).

Jeremy, wow, that's an unbeatable price! Expect to put in a couple thousand $ into it to make it last you a long time, especially if you do the recommended new frame and axle. We're now doing a 1978 Boler (virtually identical design to the eye). You'll probably find a good welder in your area if you decide to get a new frame made, but if not, look at our thread for the weld shop in north Seattle area.
Gonna enjoy watching your renovation!
Cheers,
Slav & Heather

I understand that Seattle is near the water (lol) That said, I am sure that there are a lot of boat trailer builders up that way as well that could knock out a new frame on their lunch break.....
