Hello, we recently bought a 1973 Trillium Fiberglass trailer and we've been browsing this site for a few days. It looks like a thriving community with lots of great ideas on how we can spruce up our little trailer. We're looking forward to learning all the things necessary to maintain our Trillium and what options we have in modifying it to suit our needs.

Question: Have you propped up your roof?
Some have had collapses with excessive snow loads.

thanks for the warm welcome. I have the trailer under a tarp garage to keep the snow off. With the winter we've been getting so far here in Ontario, my biggest challenge is keeping the snow off the garage so it doesn't collapse

LOL.........I bet there's a picture out there some where with a collapsed
garage as well.

Hi Judy and Ron. Welcome to FGRV. I know you are going to love your little Trill. I owned a 13 footer and couldn't bear to part with it when I bought my 4500, so gave it to my daughter.

They are a tough little camper. I knew nothing about FG campers when I got the Trillium and I towed it everywhere for years, clear out to BC and back bf I found this forum and began to learn so much. With reasonable maintenance you will be making fun memories for years to come.

I hope you will join us for the Bolerama at Long Beach in July. And if you can't wait until July, there is an earlier 'Eggfest' in May. Be sure to watch for info.

I am now fairly sure that snow was not the issue on this collapse. I suspect it was more likely someone on the roof that caused it to collapse. It is still a guess, but I just can't see snow doing that. I could be wrong though.

Welcome to the forum, fellow trillium owner.I think that the trillium is a great little trailer.Here are some things to check.
Frame for rot or cracks,window frame seal to body of trailer, and the belly band seal ,I also would be diligent removing the snow load off the trailer ,tarps trap the snow unless you have a A frame set up over the entire trailer.

Frame appears to be in good shape. I plan on scraping it down and painting it this spring. Window and belly band seal all look good although the paint (or gelcoat) covering the caulking is cracking, so I'd like to find out the best way to repaint it. The caulking itself still looks good so I don't really want to replace it if I don't have to.
