Hey! Newbe from VA
Hi you all! Finally have my new Old Uhaul CT13! I am soo happy
Live in the Blue Ridge Mountains and have camped all my life, slept on the ground, tents, & Pop ups. I do a lot of primitive camping in the National Forests and go year round. Have been wanting a fiberglass camper for years. Saw my first one 20 some years ago and have been hooked ever since.
I have been reading this website on and off for a long time and appreciate all the great information and nice people here. Hoping to make many new friends.
I have a lot of work to do on the little camper as the previous owner was proud to tell me he and his wife only camped where there was electricity.
Well ... All the wires in the camper have been cut...DUHHH Behind every sticker is a hole new life! HA
Oh well, I will use the camper anyway, have lanterns, ductape, will travel.
This will be a work in progress.

Hi Diane, we like newbies AND old-new molded fiberglass trailers. You'll find a bunch of us here just like you! And yes, you can use your trailer just as it is as long as it's safe to go down the road. Just consider it a "hard sided tent"!

Thank you Thomas! This is so valuable. Although I know nothing about electricity.
Want a working 12 volt system. Now none. Just bought a new Battery, not sure about where or what to do with it yet. Not discouraged at all though.
Am working on the plumbing now...HA Only took me 4 days to learn that a "petcock"
cannot be purchased at Pets R Us, HA

Yea, I think a petcock has to be purchased at a farm supply with the other fowl.

I don't know what a petcock is either, but I assume it is not an animal.
Welcome to the Uhaul family. Good luck with your reno.
I am afraid that we are a family who camps only where there is electricity too. Our Uhaul has been most used as what we named it for, a cheap hotel room (Howie is what we call it.). I also whine if we can't have water, although hubby has rigged out a way to keep me happier with an external tub.

Welcome. 20 years, what took so long? I had to have one almost as soon as I realized what they were.

Welcome Diane
Good to have another Friberglass trailer owner in the state. Even though I live near the bay most of my camping is done near the Blue Ridge or in the GW or Jefferson NF. Hope to see you on the road this summer.

What took me so long was that I camped with my best friend who was quadrapalegic, wheelchair bound. Her physical needs, were best met in a pop-up with a great floor plan that worked for her. My friend is in a better place now. I have lifelong great memories.

Diane: are the original 12 volt lights still in it. We have added a few, plus now installing two 110 lights. Battery box is in the rear, center, converter on door side rear. Check the 110 outlet, some were wired wrong from the factory. Looks like you don't have the swamp cooler, and I can't see the solar panel on the roof. Bob

Another Newbie from VA
Hi on Valentines Day we baught a 1984 U-Haul 13ct and it was love at first sight . We are also from VA. As a matter of fact we live less than 20 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway in Lynchburg. It's nice to see another U-haul owner so close by. I have spent the majority of my youth exploring the Jefferson and Washington National Forests. Mom swears I was concieved at North Creek Campground on the opening day of trout season many decades ago. Will have to pay homege now with our U-Haul its been years since I've been in that neck of the woods. Hope to see ya around.

While there is little activity over on uhaulcamper.com, there is information there too.

Diane & James: You should come to our mini Uhaul rally near Columbia SC on April 13, 14, 15. We set it up with Jane & Greg because we will be traveling through there on our trip to Georgia from upstate NY. We will be going through part of Virginia too on I 81. Mary & Bob
