Hi ! future owner of a Scamp 16

Hi, I'm Ken and I recently put a deposit on a new Scamp 16, floorplan 4. I hope to pick it up in the first week of May. I've already looked around and got some ideas and plans for our new toy. Thanks very much.

Ken

welcome, ken! and congratulations on your purchase.

it's great that you've found some ideas lined up to make your new toy specially suited for you. don't know if you found those ideas on our forum or on another site, but wherever it was, feel free to ask as many questions as you like.
there is no such thing as a stupid question!

Welcome to the forum! How exciting. We are still in the decision-making mode. In the Scamp, the 16', floorplan 4 has always been my favorite. Did you visit the factory or view another owner's trailer? May seems like a great time to take delivery too. Will be anxious to see how you like it and what adventures it will lead you to. Congratulations!

I've seen a few 13s around here in upstate NY and wore out the Scamp brochure they sent me several years ago We're excited now that we've started the ordering process.

Congrats Ken. I have the layout 4 as well and it works well for me - doesnt matter if I am traveling on my own or with 2 adults and 2 kids and 2 big dogs :-) Like the window in the front and the extra counter space.

Hi Ken, welcome to FiberglassRV.

I too have a Scamp, layout 4... mine is 26 years old however! So, cool for you... a new trailer. If you enjoy yours as much as I've enjoyed mine... you'll make tons of memories!

Hi John and Marilyn, I just bought my used floorplan 6 on Valentine's day, but in my case that's what I would have bought new as well. I see you're towing your 16' with a Subaru too! I just towed my trailer home from Arizona, about a 600 mile trip, and other than the high wind advisory through the Mohave, I was getting 22.8 mpg while towing. Those Subies sure make great tow rigs!

Got it!!!

OK, we picked up our 16 from Backus on Monday 4/29, and drove down to the KOA at Jackson MN for 2 nights. Left on Wednesday morning early with snow and sleet LOL. That night at the KOA just north of Chicago, then a night at the KOA in Sandusky OH. We now are at The Villages RV resort at the Turning Stone Casino in Verona NY ( so my wife can indulge in her love of the slots ) before heading home on Saturday, just a 1 1/2 hour ride.

My impressions so far. Tows like a dream behind my Kia minivan, no power issues, just a bit less visibility. Having a gas issue, the water heater worked the first night, but now everything ( the water heater and stove ) just light briefly then go out. I'm not sure if it's the tank, regulator or something else. When I get home, I'll sub out the tank with one on my grill that works to rule that out or in. If it's not the tank, I'll call Scamp for their input since it's brand new. I already had my first mod installed the second day, the mini baskets from Walmart zip tied to the support bars, ( thanks, I believe it was Norm's tip ) and my wife loves it. Next up will be a modified shorter dining table, solar charging and longer drain hose ( 10 ft is nearly useless, unless parked just right ).

One last question, is there a direct LED replacement for the inside bulbs and out side light? It's probably posted here somewhere, but I figured I'd be lazy and just ask in this post.

Also, all the KOAs we stayed at and this last campground have been
outstanding.
