Hi....I am

Steve and I am married to Patty. We just bought a 2004 16ft. Scamp with a rear dinette, front bunks and a toilet/shower. Took our first trip and are already thinking of ways to modify and make our experience even better.

If anyone has designed and built their own awning, let us know. We do not want to pay $1000 for a new one, but would rather try and do something ourselves.

Thanks!!

Some people have awnings on their trailers, many don't use them. I don't have an awning, when I want shade or rain protection I use a Paha Que stand alone shelter. Do a google search on paha que you'll find lots different colors.
From my point of view a stand alone give me a lot more flexibility. I can put it over a picnic table, or beside a stream, or next to the trailer. An awning limits you to next the trailer. If you want it over a picnic table you have to eight move the table (not always possible) or site the trailer beside the table again not always possible.
The paha que looks good, goes up and come down easily. Cost is bit higher than standard stand alone EZ-Up type of shelter.

Welcome Steve and Patty. We also use a e-z up canopy. I like the idea of being able to move it around to work best at your campsite.

x2 Paha Que, but we also have an awning and use that for short stays, rather than put up the Paha.
