Hi I Am...

Christine from NC. Brought my 1999 16' Scamp with me and ignorantly let it sit for 3 years not knowing the humidity was going to cause all kinds of mold inside. I've set off mold bombs and treated what I could see, but I still smell mold and I'm worried it is under the carpeting all over the walls. I could really use some help in figuring out what to do.

This is what I see under the ceiling carpet. Is this normal or mold?

looks normal.. foil insulation with red spray adhesive under the rat fur (marine headliner). Perhaps a few black spots. A good steam cleaning, preferable profesional, will usually take care of the rat fur. Moldy wood (if you have any) might call for replacing. I am in NC also and found that good ventilation and occasional cleaning is all that is needed. Unless you have an allergy to mold I would not be overly concerned - there is mold everywhere and usually only a few type are a health concern. And if you do have an allergy then perhaps a professional mold remediation company can advise what mold(s) are present, if its a concern and what to do about it.

An important question is does it leak when stored outside and not under shelter. Tomorrow is the perfect time in much of NC to check for water along the floor at the edges and anywhere else you can reach.

Thank you Gordon. The only leak I had found last month was the back window but I fixed that, it was just plugged with dirt. But it did create mold on the floor, which I've cleaned up. After the rain today, I don't see or feel any other leaks, but the mold smell is strong and I don't know where else to look. I will have it tested for molds and get the rat fur cleaned.
