Hi, I am eager to start...

A few months back I had a chance to buy a UHaul 13ft Camper... funds weren't right so i had to pass up a good deal... guy wanted around 3k for one in very good shape... this would have been my first camper ever...

Now I feel the time is better and I am eager to start camping. I am in the market for a 13ft camper preferably with a shower and toilet. I am in Houston Tx (howdy!) and would be great to find something close by. Although I am not opposed to traveling.

If anyone knows of one being sold please let me know. Thanks.

Hi Abraham,

Welcome! How about a Scamp 13' Standard Layout 2 with the big bed? Front bath and a 4 person dinette in the rear that can be used as a bed.

Take care,

Dean

Just know that the full bath option in the 13' standard Scamps is fairly recent (early 2000's?) and the big bed option was introduced in 2014, so there aren't many out there and they'll be fairly pricey (at least compared to a vintage U-Haul).

The Scamp is hands down the best RV I've ever owned (6 and holding).

Pros... No leaks after 8 years. Worth more than I paid (used) 4 years ago. Very snug in bad weather. Simple to maintain. Easy to pack, hook up, and go. Bunk is really easy to set up. Sleeps our whole family of four. Fiberglass cabinets are sturdy and easy to clean. Love the marine headliner on the walls and ceiling.

Cons... Main bed is small (45" wide, head-to-toe sleeping in tapered bags makes it roomier for two). Takes more time to get to your destination (60-65mph towing the trailer vs. 70-80mph without). Semi-annual wash and hand wax is a workout!

To me a Scamp is the VW Beetle of RVs. Not fancy, but a simple, classic design that works.

Most of what I've said applies to other small egg trailers, of course. With Scamp you can get a simple, basic, reasonably priced NEW (or newer) trailer and bypass the potential issues of dealing with a vintage unit.
