Welcome Lynn.
Yes we love pictures and there are lots of people who have renovated older Scamps so you have come to the right place

Welcome, Lynn Christopherson!

Minnesota, eh?
Is your state one of the five that allow overnight camping
in the highway rest area parking lots?

We have a 1973 amerigo, so we know about some vintage TLC!

Here's our little rig at the moment:

Welcome to the forum Lynn. Except for those who purchased new all of our eggs needed some to a lot of TLC. Fixing them up is part of the fun. Lee and Norma

Welcome to the forum.

Owning a trailer is a lot like owning a boat. There is always a certain amount of maintenance and repair and, for those into it, modifications and improvements.

Just this week I built a new table and reworked the fresh water system. Started to pack the bearings and found one that was slightly questionable, so I changed them all.

The table in the Little Joe, despite everything else being 6 ply birch, was made with prefinished (thin plastic overlay on the bottom) particle board. the top was covered with Formica with the usual plastic edging. Down in our climate the bottom had expanded giving the top a convex look. The good side; if you spilled on the table, it ran to the middle. The bad side; we were afraid that one night it would give way and deposit us very intimately in the center aisle.

On the fresh water system, I needed to get in there and do some other work, so while I was at it a built a new retainer for the water tank so I can remove it without pulling the sink cabinet. While at it I remounted the pump and the tank drain to make both more accessible for maintenance and draining. I also put in a new faucet.

Other mods: 80 watts of solar, infinitely variable PWM switch for the Fantastic Fan, all LED lighting.

For me, all part of the adventure.

Have fun.

As the owner of a now eight month Scamp that I purchased new, I would strenuously disagree with the first part of your statement, and just as strenuously agree with the second part. I had a number of issues on my new Scamp that required attention, and in a way I am glad. I learned a lot and now am ready to deal with most anything that might go wrong.

There is a Minnesota fiberglass trailer group that gets together in Spring and Fall. Here is a copy of the plans for fall.

"2016 Sept 8,9,10 Lake Bemidji State Park
Lake Bemidji State Park
September 8, 9, 10, 2016.

The fall gathering of the Scrambled Eggs will be at Lake Bemidji State Park, Bemidji, MN.

https://reservations1.usedirect.com/...earchView.aspx

Most of the electric sites are available as of today (May 10), so timely registrations would be prudent. The cost for an electric site is $31 per night. Registration fee is $8.50 via the Web. A park pass or daily entry fee will be required - just as it was at Kathio.

The main gathering area will be near site 56.

Be sure to bring your musical instruments.

This will be a back to basics/unorganized event. Bring your own name tags!"
