Hi I am, questioning my purchase/ sanity

Hi, my wife and I recently purchased a 1978 17ft Boler and are looking forward to bouncing ideas around on needed repairs. Namely, floor rot. Got patch under the door and in the bathroom by the wheel well, got a bit starting by the back window too. Any tips or advice in patching would be greatly appreciated.

Overall looks very nice
While I’ve never had a floor rot issue I’m sure others will chime in as there are numerous threads on this subject.... I’ve never had much luck but search this site

floor rot

I have one and it needs a gut and redo. floor is good. Where are you located, iam in Alberta first thing i did was to place the leaf springs on the top of the axle. I have fixed lots of these .did body work for 45+years .fixed lots of corvettes .i use car paint to finish mine.not house paint .

Not an expert on Boler but have worked and renovated 2 Trilliums. I have also worked on many F/glass boats. I treat my Trillium like 2 boats. I only paint fiberglass when the gell-coat is gone or ruined, and then with boat paint recommended for F/G. Your rotten floor is a nasty problem. It can mean that the top of the metal frame may be rusted out and that might mean a new frame and the body off. I suggest you get it inspected by someone knowledgeable unless you are prepared to tackle it yourself. :-(

I'm out in the wet coast. Axle, brakes and suspension are first on the list, sending it to shop though.

I suggest getting the frame checked first, they will tell you about the axle and brakes at the same time. You may be better off to get a divorce and another trailer unless you are sure this is the one. I suggest making a list of all that needs doing and take it with you for an estimate. Just an FYI, a little trailer is much more complicated than most houses, you have dual wiring 12V and 120V as well as the running lights and brakes, propane gas for cooking and maybe furnace and 3 way fridge, water tanks for clean and dirty, external water supply. All in a very confined space!

My basic advice is fix any/all leaks first and then get it under cover so you can methodically go through everything without worrying about more damage.
