Hi! I'm Lou from Winnipeg Manitoba Canada

I've owned my 1976 13' boler for 10 years and have been visiting this site as a guest since that time looking for hints /tips. Although we've enjoyed our little egg, we've decided it's time to let it go to a good home in the next year or so. To that end, I'm looking for help with a little problem I'm having. Guests have been using candles and the walls /ceiling is covered with a dark grey soot that I'm having a difficult time cleaning. I've tried dish soap and water; diluted bleach solution; Vim gel; regular Vim; Clorox Spray w/bleach; and vinegar - all using a scrub brush and rinsing with water. I've managed to clean some of it but it's blotchy looking so I'm still testing products. This weekend I'm trying Resolve stain remover and Borax - separately of course. Has anyone out there used something else with success?

Hi Lou,
Have you tried " Mean Green" that can be find in Walmart.
That stuff is great. Even for the bugs on the trailer....

Hi Lou. You could try Soot Removing sponge from Amazon.ca.

The Resolve and the Borax did not work. So far, the Clorox spray foam with bleach seems to be the best. I've not tried either of those products mentioned! Thank you. Will pick up the Mean Green at Walmart. Is the soot removing sponge available in stores? (Or is that like the Mr. Clean magic eraser?)

I don't know if the soot removing sponge can be bought in stores, but it is used by restoration companies that clean up after fires. BTW I am from Winnipeg too.

fiberglass???

if it's FG we're talking about....you can try methyl hydrate (lock de-icer, gas line anti-freeze, un-press. alcohol stove fuel..paint thinner...all the same thing)....it's what I used to use on boat hulls to remove fender smudges, road grime from towing, etc.....did a very good job for that....alcohol evaporates so you have to add to a rag and scrub hard....and repeat...whatever is on the FG ends up on the rag...turn/flip often

Thanks Francois, but it's for the interior walls, which are Ensolite. I'm hoping to try the "Mean Green" next weekend (fingers crossed).

Success! Dollar Store's "Power Green Cleaner Degreaser". Sprayed it on and it immediately turned white. Thanks for your suggestions.
