Just looking at your great pic again and something struck me about it. The nose of the Scamp is sitting very high. When towing the nose should be level or very slightly down. You may already know that, but it seems worth commenting.
Happy adventures next Summer.

Walt

That's a good observation, Walt. I believe she did mention it in her post and has a plan.

For what it's worth, I started towing my Scamp with the same stinger I use for my utility trailer, which had the Scamp sitting a bit nose high. I made several trips that way without issue. But after reading the advice of many here I spend a good deal for a longer drop. Honestly, I can't tell any difference, stability-wise, but I sure have to be more careful about tongue scrapes. You can see the difference in the last two photos in my registry. The next-to-last has the shorter drop; the last is with the longer drop.

Thanks Walt. I had the same observation and have 4" hitch on the shopping list. This was my first time towing and when we stopped for dinner I found the most vacant part of the lot with big pull throughs. The spot I chose was on a hump making the trailer ride even higher. This won't be the last time I park in the parking lot boonies, but hopefully a better fitting hitch will help things.

I've enjoyed reading your posts and the responses. I wish you well in your travels. I wonder if you'd be interested in finding out how people modify the bunks to be safer for their children? See this thread http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...ety-56222.html You can search on this FGRV website using the button "SEARCH" and drop down to the bottom "Google Search" and put "bunks" in there. You will come up with lots of hits.

Hi everyone,
I want to thank you all again for the warm welcome. I wanted to share a few pictures of our Scamp. The kids think it is a playhouse on wheels and I have to agree. I foresee many fun adventures in these 65 square feet.

Hi Miriam,
What a beauty! I know you have many happy camping days ahead! I don't see any cushions. Have you been following this thread? http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...ons-73589.html

Thanks for the cushion information. I have a set of rear dinette cushions that are in good shape but need new covers. I was going to order them directly from scamp but this thread gives me some good ideas too. I had planned to cut my own cushions and upholstery for the front bunks using a no-sew method. I can't wait to post before and after pictures.
