Hi I'm picking up new Scamp 16' tomorrow

I a returning member - Brenda. Sitting in hotel about 30 minutes from Backus, MN. I received a call from Sales Monday asking if I was still interested in purchasing a 2021 Scamp. I had 5 seconds to make up my mind. I already have a Lance on hold with a deposit. When sales person reviewed the options and price it had everything I wanted except a microwave and larger black tank. I'll live because I'm saving $10,000 and getting the flat door and a style that's classic. Can't wait!

Awesome news!
See if you can get a photo of your new Scamp near the Scamp on a stick sign.

I'm envious! How much are the 2021 16-footers going for?

The door is awesome and that sliding euro screen. Too bad the fridge is practically falling out. Big gaps and I can see outside. Debating on awning, microwave install and will see if I can get bigger 6.7 fridge.

Well that's too bad! And you are getting this new? What's up with the quality control? Curious to know if they are able to swap out for a bigger fridge? I'd love a larger fridge in my 2013 but am not sure it's possible to retrofit.

An improperly installed fridge is a safety hazard, especially if it's not sealed tightly against the shell. Do not run it on propane until you get this corrected.

Unfortunately RV initial quality control is often lacking, and Scamp is no exception. They do have a decent reputation for working with customers to make things right. I would do some thorough testing of all systems to uncover anything else that needs attention. Best to do it before you leave the Backus area, but if not, call Scamp. They will sometimes authorize local 3rd-party repairs of minor issues, but this might warrant a trip back to the factory.

I don't know if they can upgrade to the larger fridge at this point, because the cabinet has already been cut for the smaller one, but it never hurts to ask. I was actually surprised to see on the website the 6.7cf fridge is now an option on 16'ers. That's another of many recent changes at Eveland's. It's almost dizzying given the glacial pace of change in the past!

Well drat, not the update I was wanting to read.
I have read a lot of threads of owners who are happy with Scamp service though.
Keep us updated.

Brenda,
Did you just stop to look and inquired about buying one? Did they tell you that they didn't have any and the turnaround time was over a year if you ordered one? Then they found you one? I was thinking about trying that! Thing is I want a 19'!

No, I called them and dropped my real teeth when I hear 2 year build. And you pay the 2022 and 2023 price increase ouch. It was a miracle that sales person Steve Olson put me on list probably because I said I’d pay cash, told him my models and wants and boom he calls on May 3 someone backed out of build.
