Hi I'm Tom Reed

Hi Gang ;
I'm new here and as of yet haven't purchased a trailer yet. I'm planning on ordering a 17 ft Casita in March. I have just sold my primary residence and I'm wintering up north in an apartment till june. After that I plan to be fulltimeing it in the Casita. till then I'll be downsizing my stuff.

Welcome, Thomas!

Casita 17s are very popular trailers hereabouts. Know that they can be a bit on the heavy side, especially on the tongue. It makes for a very stable tow, but can overburden the rear suspension of some vehicles. Data on actual loaded-for-camping weights of various makes and models is compiled in the thread Trailer Weights in the Real World. Post #297 links to a spreadsheet of the data.

Best wishes on your new adventure!

Way to Plan for a fun filled future. Downsizing isn't always the easiest thing to do but well worth it. Downsizing to a Casita 17 should be interesting!

Well I listened and called casita today. the wait is longer than last year, Si today I ordered my 17ft "Spirit Deluxe", with a pick up date of May 5th.
I'm glad I read the posts on this forum closely because I had been thinking of waiting till March. By ordering now I got in on the 2015 price brake that saved me over $2500.So now the wait is on....

Hi Tom,

Exciting news for you and welcome to the forum! I look forward to seeing the pics when you pick up your new baby.

Whereabouts in the NE are you wintering? I think Casita is in Texas right? That'll be a drive, but well worth it. Tell us about your order! I'm not familiar with casitas...does the 17D come with a bunch of options? If so what did you have yours built with?

Congrats!

Wendy
